So I have checked all the photos in the album section from the contest and there are some outstanding shots. They have me wanting. So my plea goes out for anyone who has some video of the contest to post it for the one that could not make it. Cheers TC

Video's from Santa Cruz?

Ok, I had to miss the Santa Cruz event because we had already booked a cabin last spring to get our annual family ski/boarding trip in this year. It was hot every day and the snow was holding up well but some spring like conditions. Sitting down at the base having a beer in the warm sunshine I could...

I started surfing in the pre-leash days went through the leather strap/bungie era and into the current urethane leash, so as far as leg ropes go I have seen a lot. They are a pain sometimes, catching up on your fins etc, but overall they have allowed for way more experimentation and risk taking on t...

Poorboy I have been using Pod 2 fins. They have great thrust/power for those late takeoffs and overall they work very well, but they do float. The Tec II fins you mentioned are according to Hydro, "made from opaque silicone, these fins offer the fit and comfort of the original Tech Fins, but wi...

Chadsdad I agree with Mike if you go too big you will be wearing water balloons on your feet. A little snug is good, too sung and you have cramps. Make sure you try your fins on with your boots if you wear fins. If there tight under your fins you will for sure have cramps. Good luck mate. TC

The board looks like it is very fun to ride. Keep us posted on how it does in different size surf. I love your out side the box thinking and after seeing your board I did get a crazy idea, so here is a thought for all to consider. How do you think two of the star fins would work on a twin fin fish? ...

During the 80’s I was a single fin holdout working at Heritage Surf and Sport on the east coast. I had the star fin setup on a standup board. Over all it worked very well, it held in large overhead surf, was fast down the line and had an outstanding pivot turn off the top but after I rode my first t...

I ride a Freeline 5’8” quad fish that works very well overall and is great in solid surf. With this board I like using fins. I have been using the Pod 2 fins as of late and they have preformed very well. Over all fins help me get into waves and they also give me a jump on the takeoff. This not only ...

The boards look really intriguing and I very much appreciate the greener footprint. I did not see anything about pricing. Don do you have any idea of what a ballpark price of the board that you are trading might be? Again the boards look great. Cheers TC

I agree fully with kneebumps. I have been able for years to generate speed down the line on my standup board by using quick little turns on the face of the wave. On my kneeboard I get great carving turns but when I try to generate speed it is much more difficult. Great forum, I need some help and I ...

I use a paraffin base product called White Lightning. You can pick it up at any bike shop. It is used on bike chains instead of oil. It dries quickly and only takes a few drops. You can us the rest on your bike it way better than the old oils.

I like the Parks pads myself. Mine are black pads with the round bumps, they are the only ones I have every used so I have nothing to compare them to. Up here on the central coast where wetsuits are a way of life they work very well. The extra padding and grip has come in handy on big winter swells ...

The solution is in unity/solidarity. The entire surfing community is huge and because of those numbers we have some substantial clout. If all of us boycott British Air for all travel, (not just surf related travel), send letters of this intent to Qantas and other partner airlines in the One World al...

It seems that there have been some problems over the past few years with the Santa Cruz attitude. If this is the case and people are open to looking at different venues I would suggest Morro Rock (Morro Bay). Much more laid back attitude and also good viewing of the contestants from the jetty parkin...

It’s been a while but I use to live down the Mendo Coast in Albion. There are some great surf spots up in Westport and it is one of the most beautiful locations in the world. I would be interested in going if the dates work out, I’ll keep checking. One word of advice, if you are coming from So Cal y...
