The dished deck shots you just posted look great and I absolutely agree that losing volume that way is sensible.

Unless the water spills in to the area that has had the foam removed and gives it neutral buoyancy. In a theoretical world this would never happen but in the real world this would happen on the first test surf. Isn't this what the shoe was all about? http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000195.jpg I thi...

I do too and used to think about it related to my feet should being centred over my fins and my knees being just behind the wide point. It was Bro who pointed all the above out to me and it makes sense because where your feet end up relates to knee position which is controlled by wide point. I think...

I think turning arc relates to many things in board design. However when you're turning using your rails I think the distance of fins from wide point is important as is the length of the rail behind the fin. If you go short then these distances can be compromised. I think Bro managed to get it right...

I ride my 5'1" in everything I surf. Surfed it in 3x overhead slabby reef and it's okay. It paddled as well as my old 6'0 step up. It's based around a 5'8" but with 6" chopped off the nose and 1" chopped off the tail. Rail line is similar to a 6'0" fin placement was a bit of...

I just realised I duplicated Bryn's thread. The board goes well though so deserves two posts.

My concept was - get rid of the nose and you don't have to worry about catching a rail up there and it seems to work.

http://kneelo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=754 I had this board made for the reasons you describe. It doesn't have much nose lift so the rocker in your blank should cover it. The idea was to help me compete with the bodyboarders on late drops at a slabby reef. It works really well and the other...

AB it's finished and still no Mona Lisa - I think I'll leave shaping to the experts in future! Your Chubby Bubby looks pretty sick. How do you find the bodyboard rails work? The idea was just to use an old board to test some concepts. I wasn't trying to make anything for small waves I'm aiming for a...

This is an interesting topic. I just turned a 6'0 semi gun into a 5'0 to experiment based on what I saw here - www.tomosurfboards.com

Here it is -

It's nearly finished now and if it works I'm going to get Bro to make me a proper one.

We had David George - kneeboarder and level 3 ISA judge (I think?) as head judge and then we rotated. Bryn didn't surf so became a second permanent judge.

British Nationals 2011

Here's a blow by blow of the day - British Nationals 2011 The forecast looked good running up to the event and for once things held in place and we scored. Offshore winds, sunny skies and a solid 4' – 5' swell running. The odds of those three things coming together in November have got to be nearly ...

That's pretty much all the footage I got. I left my big camera at home as I rightly assumed there'd be a hundred lenses there already - looking forward to seeing all the pictures. The distant surfing on there is on the inside at Woolamai. I should've got in the water with the camera to get better fo...

Quick video clip of our time in Oz

http://www.vimeo.com/21710012 Just a short clip that gives a flavour of our time in Phillip Island. We had a good time while we were over and would like to thank everyone who extended us a warm welcome. Also thanks to Jim Brown and the crew for putting the time in to organise the event. Good times, ...
