I've been intrigued by paipo's for a while, but have never ridden one. So it sounds like it may be the vehicle of choice when it's closed out (frequently here in SoBay). Is that when you guys generally pull out the paipo's? Ska--That bamboo decked board looks nice. Any pics of the bottom of that boa...

The O.C.--where to surf this next swell?
I'm rarely down in the OC, but will be in North OC Sat AM (Jan12) mid morning, and would appreciate a recommendation on where to surf this upcoming big swell. I'm not looking to get all aggro fighting for waves amidst a bunch of amped shortboarders, but just want a spot that would handle this largis...

Re: Arm paddle vs fins--which offers more thrust?
I tend to arm paddle or arm paddle/kick. I've always found that just using my legs isn't helpful. I would rather launch myself off of the bottom into the wave than kick myself into a wave. I feel like I can "pull" myself into the wave using my arms (and cupped hands, of course) more effec...

Arm paddle vs fins--which offers more thrust?
What will get you into more waves: arm paddling or fin kicking(without paddling). I know there's a zillion variables--paddling strength, type of fins, etc., but I was always under the impression that kicking w/ fins offer a lot more propulsion than arm paddling, then I came across this old tread: --...

Welcome aboard, glad you're having fun. I too transitioned from longboarding to KBing, so the whole flipper thang was foreign to me too. When kicking to catch a wave, I find myself needing to scoot back on the board, so the tail of the board is above my hip--so I can kick by bending at the hips. Pro...

I got a free pair of Da Fins through my work as a lifeguard. They're great fins and I value them as a tool on the job, but for kneeboarding, they don't even come close to Vipers. Da fins are too soft and don't produce quick acceleration. So DaFins are a lot softer than Vipers? I feel the Viper oran...

Just wondering about Bolsa..........generally, does it hold it's shape pretty well? I've longboarded there a couple time (few yrs ago), and it was all close out walls when I was there. Does the beach break need winter groomed sand bars to work? I saw some pics on the Harbour site from last wk, and t...
