OMG, those would be like wearing socks. There is no way I am going to wear socks to walk/hike/climb to the beach; let alone get on those barnicle infested jagged rocks on the bottom of the ocean. The ones I use have like tennis shoe bottoms. The are used by divers and they use fins and they feel nic...

call me a loser if you must....but true for me. contests are not the most important thing for a lot of people. you're going to have to accept that there are different viewpoints which are not mutually exclusive of each other. i'm sure there are lots of guys who are not interested in participating i...

Mine are real easy and yes I dont want anymore Velcro. Get 5 feet of 1/8" nylon cord and a couple feet of 1/4"rubber tube. Find a couple of those spring/button things on the strings of a parka. Cut the cord and tube in half, then put it in each other. Tie a whoopie knot (69)with the ...

Also I use the XL Chrchill blue/yellow with the booties. The XL has a larger blade than the L one does. Feel nice with the thick boots and I think they are 5mm standards. I can even get by with the ones with like tennis shoe bottoms since I dont stand on them  They hold up better on the rocks a...

Havin the nose and front of the board a little beefier makes it easier to kick on a big board. Also keep the tail thin. On the 6'9" board I was ridin it kicked real nice and could keep up to anyone with just kickin. Then to jump quick just move up and make a paddlin motion with the arms and awa...

We used to ride really wide diamond tails with a 10" fin back in the day. The tails were always as thin as possible, almost to the point of havin the fin box poke through a few times. Yes they were fast but I dont remember them turnin very verticle and yes they would slide out when in a tight s...

S-Glass has a much higher tensile strength, but also a much higher cost. All glass is good in tension, but poor in compression. In snowboard manufacture the bottom glass is very thin (tension). The top glass is more than twice as thick to compesate for it being in compression and for the two to equa...

A little bit like riding a skateboard huh? Imagine doing it on your knees We did alot of kneeboardin on skateboards back in the early 70's. The board was like 18" wide and used a carpet pad. Standard plywood and 2x4 riser with the rear wheels lower or smaller. Got used to usin the legs to get ...

Im still on this and looked at the boards again. I would even go with a 6-2 instead of the 6-5 with the wide nose. The one thing I dont like is the crowned deck, I like them flat. And I would probally go with a little wider than 21 and a little thicker than 2.25. I think the concaves need to be expl...

I know what to look for in a board and have been doin this for 35 years myself away...

Kneeboards are much less "cookie cutter" than your typical 6'2" machine shaped stand up board. That is why most boards dont suite the kneboarder because they look for different things in a board than a stand up. They dont really care about color or size or hype or blitz. They see sub...

Re: modern kneeboard designs compared to modern shortboards

Disclaimer: Please pardon the comparison to standup boards, it is only a reference point for me since I am a recovering standup.(Sad to say I'm only about 24 hours sober) :D Thats so too funny  "I'd stand up for I'd just fall down" That was my moto, but still, all I wanted was more. :P

"Is not the kneeboard the perfect vehicle for the aging ( but young at heart ) surfer whom yearns to still ride better waves, take off later, get barreled, and generally carve about in a fashion not normally associated with stand up surfers of the same age group?" Im all with that Jerry. T...
