My condolences to his family and friends. This is a memory I have of Sproky, if I have the right person: In approximately 2003, Sproky started a surfing/KB’ing website and ‘borrowed’ some surf cam links. The cam link’s owners took him to court and he was fined. Sproky did the right thing and sold al...

Agree with Mark. My Fishes (Blast, Blast knock-offs) are my fastest boards. Whereas my trifins are slower, they do go vertical better. I'd give the nod to cutbacks on the Fish too.

Great comments all and thanks Don and the Friends. I just checked, I joined 10 days later...can't remember how I heard about it. Many a day when I could not surf I'd come here for my stoke, as I still do. The pic of Albert will forever be in my mind. It's a great shot. Scores of times I clicked on t...

Thanks Max. That picture was also a poster. It is a daunting moment in time. The face of that wave must be ~20 feet and perfect. And a good point...a time never to be seen again...pre-sponge.

Surfer Mag - May 2012 - The Wedge - 1975 Monster Swell

Surfer Mag has dredged up the classic pick of a Wedge monster wave with a kneeboard floating over the top. The swell, in 1975, was known as the Monster from New Zealand. Ok, who's board is that and can you share the story?

I went to 5 stores that sold mags on Saturday, could not find it on the shelf. Only 1 store had Surfer. No surf shops in my neighborhood. So I ordered directly from the Journal, about $21 delivered to my door.

Motorized SUP - Illegal in California Surf?

I saw a guy riding a SUP this morning, early at Mission Beach in San Diego. He was paddling it prone. This guy had an incredible range, sat way outside and could catch anything. He could also beat almost any section. I was amazed at what a great paddler / paddle board set-up. Then, he paddled by me,...

Thanks Mark. I agree with Bill's philosophy 100%! Mitsven has made me two Fish 2000’s, a great shape for S.D. waves.

I don't know if Bill Andrews is a member of our site or not. Bill is both a KB'er and footie. He owned P.B. Surfshop at the corner of P.B. Drive and Mission Blvd in San Diego in the late 60's and 70's. He's still a fixture in the line up in the La Jolla area...and be must be pushing 60+ I saw him at...
