I'm still one of those dinosaurs that still ride Lis fishes. I have several twin fin keels and his current quads. One of the pros of the boards are that they're some of the fastest boards that I have ever ridden!! The con would be the lack of getting the boards to go vertical. But with the quads, th...

I do the same thing too Mike. I heard this story about 3 days ago on another station. Very unfortunate that this happened to Mr. Ault. There's still CRAP that gets dumped into the streets and rivers in this town that makes its way straight to the ocean! :(

Passing

I'm deeply moved by the passing of your brother Mark.
My condolences go out to you and the Wessling Family.
I never had the chance to meet him, but through a lot of
his posts he seemed very sincere. He'll be in my prayers.

Mingei

I saw this exhibit in July and there is surf craft that is well represented by the kneeboarding community! Every 3rd Tues. of the month the exhibit is FREE. It was awesome. There are Big Rock kneeboards from Hans Newman also.

Duck feet

shamajon, I've bought the old style duck feet before at the Sports Chalet in Mission Valley before, but that was about 3 yrs. ago. I think now they just have the green/blue ones. (not too fond of those). Right now on Evil-bay, X-large pair $11.00 1 bid, you have until 5 PM on Tues. to bid. Good luck!

Honk

I definitely remember Honk, from Laguna Beach 1970-1975, then 1983 on. Here's another one. The beginning with the animation by John Lamb, There's kneeriding at 1:37. I remember the kooks yelling at him to "STAND UP" for about 12 seconds, it seemed like an eternity! www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

I see Barry "Bear" Mirandon at my work all the time. He created the twin pin surfboard in '67 at La Jolla Surboards which he owned with brother Nick. He no longer shapes anymore. He seems like a very nice guy. I once pointed him out to a co-worker who stand-up surfs, and said "That ma...

Steve Lis/Jeff Ching

Red, I think you mean Jeff Ching? It's the other way around. While attending San Diego State University, he befriended a teenage kneeboarder who made a small blunt nosed paipo like kneeboard he called the fish. Jeff asked Stevie if he could surf it, paddled out at the Cliffs and was able to stand up...

I haven't been to Sayulita since 2004 and it was closer to summer but I did get some pretty good surf at Punta Sayulita and at Punta Mita in Puerto Vallarta. It was waist high to about just overhead. It breaks at all different tides favoring a east, south-east and south wind. I think the cost to tak...
