OK Kava I will challenge your 4 month 8 comment. Living in SF area thats what we get. You just have to diversify your playtime. October through January is epic, rest of the time its hit and miss. Summer time forget it. I have been in the water once over the last 8 weeks and I check it all the time. ...

Working on that part of the coast somewhat I have seen the gazo's creek area go off with no one out. I could never nut it up enough to paddle out by myself. I have seen another kneelo surf it though (by himself). I think he lives in half moon bay or somewhere in the mtns nearby and has way bigger ba...

If Pavones is anything like the long points in Peru, I think Mark is onto the right type of board. I tried short fatter vs longer and narrow boards in those types of waves. Faster is better was my conclusion, sometimes you need to pump and go to make a section on these long point waves. Its sucks to...

Its been windy and crappy in SF for weeks now and basically there is no end in sight. Help! Then just to make things worse, stories about Indo going off and tavy are killing me. At least there are waves somewhere in world right now. Been tracking my frequent flyer miles and hoping a few construction...

It seems that no one really knows how to separate the cause and effect. We can just measure effect but parsing out cause is a bit more tricky. Isn't it better to stay on the safe side. Our high carbon producing resources are finite resources therefore developing alternative power sources and changin...

A post from your community eco freak. I wish it was funnier but this is issue I don't find too funny. Beeline et all First off name calling is immature but based on stories of past behavior appear to be par for the course. In order for me to understand beelines point I need to reiterate and summariz...

I would like to point out. That scientists are now predicting that global warming may impact the north Atlantic by slowing down warm water gulf stream and energy flowing up from the south. One hypothesis is that north Atlantic and northern Europe will actually get colder as the Atlantic heat pump sh...

Don't you love when the planets align in your favor. By pure luck I had several meetings scheduled for Santa Barbara and LA on wed and thurs. I left the Oakland airport at 6:30 am, it was rainy and windy but I had the board in hand. Did the self baggage check on southwest and was able to get out of ...

SF, The real story about the Klammath fish stocks aren't about overfishing its about water. The upper Klammath river is heavily farmed by farmers that are subsidized by the federal government. They grow crops that is water intensive like cotton and rice in a arid environment that is not suitable for...

Westport Beautiful area. My wife's field area (longest amphibian population data set in California, running for over 16 years) is just over the hill from there on the south fork of the eel river. There is also some quality beach breaks to south of that campground. The westport store also has decent ...

I once read an interesting article about how the hawaiian scale of wave rating came about. The author said it was originally developed in 60's by surfers not wanting to hoenstly indicate size of the surf on the north shore. That way they limited the people driving over from honolulu. Its not the bac...
