Re: 50+

Well over the 60+ range and have been working on my conditioning program (with the help of a few professional friends) for well over a year now. Wasn't where I wanted to be the the World Titles in Australia but it gave me a marker as to where I was and where I needed to be to be happy surfing and pa...

Re: Bocas Del Toro Panama

Scott wrote:Sounds like a very fun trip, Quadfin. Is the Bluff the same as that reefy right that you see in film clips of that area?
Think you are referring to Silverbacks, Scott. Bluff is a beachbreak that breaks "on the beach".

Bocas Del Toro Panama

Had a good trip this winter. Very much a kneeboarders paradise, didn't see a SUP or LB all week. Red Frog Bungalows did a great job of getting us on the surf and providing a clean ecolodge with good food. Sunny Garcia and Kelly had just left when we got there. Bring extra boards if you want to surf ...

Re: Team USA - 2015 World Titles

Virgin Australia was $1390 RT LAX to SYD with taxes and surcharges. Their code-share partner is Delta but better prices direct on the VA site.

Got an apartment in Kiama and entry fees done, I am ready.

Re: Team USA - 2015 World Titles

That's correct. I don't know the exact format of the World Titles this year. In the past, top ranked competitors were seeded directly into the Open division round of 64 and lower ranked competitors would surf the qualifying rounds of the Open. Better story for the Grandkids to work up from the qual...

Re: Team USA - 2015 World Titles

Yes, you can still enter but you will not be ranked. To qualify, competitors should have completed in at least one of the last two KSUSA events or other kneeboarding contest. That can be waived for injuries or travel hardship or other circumstances that prevented you from competing. Joe All the abo...

So if you are not seeded by KSUSA, can you still enter?

Kiwi, there is actually a kneelo community in Texas and there are waves about 2.5 hours south of you in the Port Aransas/Corpus Christi area and better waves in South Padre Island a little further south. We drop the wetsuits in a little over a month in South Texas and the warm Gulf water should help...

Re: Paddle air

I have used one for a couple years. At 60+ years old, paddling a 5'9" x22.5" without fins, I needed all the help I could get. By lifting your chest, neck and shoulder higher, it is easier paddling and less work for you neck and lower back to arch up. I blow it up when paddling out. I defl...

Paddle Air Vests

Anyone used one?

As I gracefully age I am trying to maximize my water time with technique and any tool I can use. Seems like it would take the stress off the neck and back but might be a pain to duck dive.

Re: churchill's

Has anyone else tried those new HUBB Makapuu Churchill's? I got mine last week and like them a lot. Basic Makapuu but a bit stiffer blade, neopreme inside-top pocket and ankle loop (super comfy). And the jet black color is cool! Now we just need some surf! I have had a couple of sessions with mine ...

Surfed my first hurricane swell (Isaac) as a great grandfather at South Padre Island Texas. Wonder what I will be riding when my great great comes along?
