Re: Compsand Flexspoon

Well done Compsand , I've been a spoon rider/ builder for about 46 years now, & Over the years have slightly altered the build to make the whole experience easier considering my advanced years. Firstly, I put more foam in the nose area . Really helps with paddling & getting into waves (I use...

Carbon Hybrid Cloth

AB,thanks for giving us all a flash  The Blue/Black combo is bloody nice,is it not? I also notice the C/F thread runs longways(as you'd expect) Don't know if it would work with my boards,BUT with the Kinetics Epoxy-really clear, where the R300 I use with standard hardener would probably dull t...

Flex Tail

AB, I'd shape a board from the get-go with a flex tail in mind. Looking at the shape of the tail of that board,I'd avoid a flex tail for 2 reasons. 1.the curved outline wouldn't be required as the bending of the tail in a turn would give you the manouverability you're after with that curve in your &...

Epoxy / Carbon Boards

Red, I was really surprised with your choice of Sealer-Plaster? I use an Epoxy/Q Cell mix, just adding more Q-cells to get a similar consistancy to a "plaster mix" I'm wondering if your hassles with the Surfset Epoxy isn't being caused by your choice of sealer??But,then again,I'd steer clea...

Epoxy / Carbon Boards

Red, I'm wondering what hardener you'r using.I always use the "Standard",but FGI have quite a few, fast, quick, standard, slow etc.If you go to FGI's web-site,it has all the guff under the Epoxy menu. Another question Red,do you put a "sealer" on the foam before you lay-up? I ALWAYS ...

Epoxy / Carbon Boards

Red, In regards to the epoxy,at present I'm using the R300,from FGI It has a 4-1 ratio, low viscosity,& costs about $88 for the 5 litre pack FGI also do a R180,intended more of a general purpose epoxy,& I suspect, would be quite suitable for "normal surfboard" construction.Costs abou...
