Crox, Mention volume and you'll always fire up the big boys. Tow in boards . Low volume, low area, even weighted. Hydrofoil boards. pretty much zero volume. Then we get to the ultimate low volume kneeboard - the spoon. You could make up a sheet of curved plastic with zero internal volume, but positi...

Heard a rumor about this spot. I checked it out during my final tour of Cal in 1990. Speculated about what it would take to surf it or even paddle out, then turned tail and ran away to surf much more moderate but still scarey Suicides (?) to the south somewhere. Big ups to you guys for having the 'n...

Nice to see a passionate discussion on design. Other surfboard design forums suggest that surface area is an important factor (as has been suggested above). Volume distribution is another issue. Not much impact from a flat water perspective, but for wave catching and wave riding it's important. When...

A 70 year old friend with a heart condition has one of these. Says it helps him get to the break and catch a couple of waves. He also takes handicapped people for surfs. Not a worry for me because I won't surf anyplace/conditions he can surf. More of an issue if you're forced to surf soft waves with...
