Checkout the article on Blacks in the new issue of Surfer's Journal. It mentions our current National Champion and can anyone identify the two chargers on page 31? They got to be kneeriders cause they're kicking straight into the pit 8)

I was driving by rincon this morning at 7 am, do the quick "over the shoulder" surf check, and what do I see, a knee rider banking deep into the pit, get covered, fly out, hit the lip, sorry, I better watch the road. To the rider, thanks for the great diversion 8) to the car next to...

North south combo

Yesterday morning I could see the swell lines converging, fun south here the last two days. Then, at around 11 am, the north kicked in, big time. It's been beautiful, windless weather. Jalama at it's finest!

Jalama was graced with some good waves and several "famous and infamous" kneeriders. Freddy, Barry, Matt, Lenard, Hosey and Bob were enjoying the campground and well overhead Tarantulas. I think it was one of the few spots around here that wasn't overcast and foggy and NO WIND, a rare trea...

Jalama and the base were Big today. Wind was howling offshore (30 knots) this morning, The smoke from the Pepperdine/malibu fire was thick. But, just got home from a BEAUTIFUL, glassy evening session. Isn't surfing a GAS!!!!!

While this is a little too close to home for me to get involved, please understand that the boat launch at Gaviota pier is a very vunerable link in obtaining access. If the wench don't work, you ain't get'n in or out of the water.

While Jon's wooden kneeboard models are beautiful works of art, try riding one of his quad-fins! It been my favorite board for the last couple of years :D

the "rediscovery" of quad fins

I just read an article in the new Surfer Mag. on Quad fins. It seems that in the stand-up world, they have just "rediscovered" quads. I can't remember how long I've been riding a quad, but I know that it's been over ten years. No where in the article is credit given to kneeriding. At first...

Headwax,

It's imput like yours, that keeps me reading these threads!!! It seems that we have got a couple of similar threads going on now regarding how fins, rails and edges effect the way our boards react. Thanks for contributing to all of these!

Thanks Headwax!!!

So, should the size of the front (& back) fin be based on the distance from the rail &/or the distance from the tail?
