Oh it used to be there on the site! Its a bit like a kneeboard Bonzer tri-fin .... The pic of the Bonzer tri-fin is still on the site, but it looks like that's different to the mal one to me as there is a Bonzer caption to the right of it. Thanks for the tips folks, might give DP a call to discuss.

Small surf "mal-like" kneeboard?

I was just looking at the Parkes/Friar Tuck website and noticed he refers to a model that's a "Malibu style performance board. A board that goes like a long board, easy to paddle & planes well in small surf - but is kneeboard, not a long board." Sadly no pics on the site. Sounds really...

+1 on "Stoked". Got it for Christmas as well and really enjoying it. My two favourites are "West Of Jesus" by Steven Kotler. The title is a little misleading - it's a great story about a quest to finds the origins of a surf legend. The other is "High Surf" by Tim Baker....

It's been a while since I was originally contemplating this idea... and i'm afraid I never went anywhere with it at the time. I did make a 7'6" that I can barely ride (although I havent really invested enough time in learning how to make it work) and a little 4'6" alaia for my kids althoug...

In 1989 I started working at the publishing company that produced Tracks and Waves. I used to push the guys on the mags to bring back more kneelo stuff but to no avail! Several years later I had a senior editorial role in the company and should have had enough clout to make another push but by then ...

Obvious stuff but swelling/fluid is a reaction to some kind if trauma and the two standard knee ones are cartlidge or ligament damage. Ice and elevation is the first thing to do to reduce the swelling but it does sound like a trip to the doc is in order. As someone whose knees have gone under the kn...

Alaia kneeboard?

This may be a crazy question but... I've got a couple of alaia blanks coming my way. I'm going to make an 8', and out of the second blank was contemplating a 3' paipo-style board and then potentially a 5' kneeboard version from the remainder. My gut feel is that it might be a bit short, but I guess ...

Thanks heaps to all of you - great feedback and can't wait to have a crack (was talking earlier today to a mate who has quite a selection of FCS fins, so it looks like he may become my personal FCS test centre!). Will let you know how I go.

Again, thanks for the excellent advice.

Another fins questions... (not which, but why?)

I've read a few of the threads around which fins people suggest changing to, but I was wondering just how much of a difference a change makes (something the other threads don't seem to address as much)? My Friar Tuck has a set of MR-TX (FCS) fins, and the idea of trying something different appeals (...

Until this thread I don't think I've ever really thought about it! Started in the late '70s simply because a couple of mates were on kneeboards. Dabbled with stand-ups but it just never felt as satisfying. That said, there was a fairly long period when I spent more time on a longboard than the kneeb...
