Just wanted to resurrect this thread to say "Thank You" to all the guys who tried to help me while I was in California. Masons, Frog, Scott and Surfhorn...thanks for the PM's and phone calls. I ended up so tangled in family that I crept away for one great morning with Surfhorn who gave me ...

Coming to Santa Barbara & Santa Cruz

I am in SB and coming to SC July 24th. I would really like to meet any of you guys here and go surfing if possible. I am a novice but comfortable in the water, just new to KBing. I could really benefit from some guidance as there are no KBers where I live. The easiest way to reach me is by text at 9...

Thanks for the input...well most of it! What RMcKnee says is helpful because it is more drastic when in fog, and we surf in fog alot up here. I'll look into the patches but don't want to feel drowsy after surfing. I know the "green" helps with nausea as well...hmmm. I stumped the Capt? Goo...

Sea sickness while surfing?

Does anybody here get a really queasy stomach while surfing? I get it so bad I have to go in, especially in a bigger, rolling swell. Has anybody ever adapted and gotten their "sea legs" as they're in the water more regularly? If so, how long does it take to adapt? It is a real buzzkill, le...

Steamer Lane voted #1 surf city

Congrats to all you Santa Cruz surfers. I just read in a surf magazine that Steamer Lane is ranked #1 in US as "Best Surf City". Encinitas is in top 5 as well.

Water temp here today is 34F, air 29F. Most guys here swear by Xcel and use the 5/4. I just got one and they are very easy to put on, taking it off is a bit harder. I find it very strechy and comfy.

Ken, not so much boney protrusions, just a different shape. I have noticed that people with REAL arches have a nice concave curve into their foot, mine curves out. :( A dremel just might be the answer.

Fins modified successfully

Thanks guys. I went and just did the fins by using a rotary rasp and ground away the very stiff side portion of the fin that DaFins have, and it worked like a charm. I Wore them with booties indoors and pain is gone -- we'll see how they fare in the water. Skansand - Thanks for the clarification on ...

Modifying bootie or fin for better side fit?

Has anyone here ever modified their bootie and/or fin to allow for more room on the outside (lateral) side of their foot? I have 7mm booties and xxl DaFins and get serious pain on the lateral sides of my feet. My bones protrude there more than other peoples. The booties have two layers of overlapped...
