3" is way too much tail rocker, will lack drive and you'll massive fins to stop the tail sliding out. I'm 100kg and ride eps compsands from 5'4" through 5'8". My current favourite is 5'7" x 22.5" x 2.25" tail rocker of 1.5" with single into double concave and flat ...

Seems like plenty of volume to me, I'm 6ft, 200+lb and my favourite board at present is 5'7" x 22.5" x 2.5" and it floats me fine. Ideally when sitting on your board the water level should be around your navel. Maybe you need to look at bottom contours too, I ride a fairly deep single...

Bang on JDC, it looks like this one is swinging too far west for us here in WA but once it rounds the Capes it starts getting angry. Thursday looks epic for Vic and maybe Sat/Sunday for our Taswegian brothers. Can you imagine surfing the Hobart points in boardies? A "mythical" rivermouth i...

Mike the tech2's are silicon. I've had the hydro finz, ok but still suffered cramps. Those tech2's are by FAR the best fin I've ever used.

So where did you end up Bert?

And does she have a sister that isn't opposed to bigamy? (as I do quite like the wife I already have)

These are by far the best fins I've ever used, haven't had a cramp in three years. Brilliant.

This is a fat little bugger I had shaped last year http://indianakneeriders.blogspot.com.au/2011_08_01_archive.html Lots of area through the back end to plane my lard arse. I have since added another set of plugs between these two, as the back ones were just too far back and also ploughed a third co...

Fins

Probox should be your first port of call, between them and http://www.hanaleifinsystems.com.au/pages/fin_portfolio.php they have a massive range of fins to play around with to get a bit of flex. I've just put them in this http://indianakneeriders.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/newby.html for just that reas...

Hey Sandgroper I'm in Perth and get locally built compsand kneelos for under $800. I've gone from riding 6'2"+ boards down to 5'4" to 5'10". Most of what I surf is under 3ft. PM me if you want a look at my boards or want the shapers details. Might even have one I'd be prepared to part...

Deep single into double with slight vee out the tail. Gives just a little more release than doubles out the tail. Mind you my concaves are 1/4-3/8" deep so with shallower concs you may not have to worry about the vee.

A bit of a drive but was well worth it, Shallows (the long right) had between 6 to 20 crew spread over a hundred yards or so and was very consistent with a pretty mellow vibe in the water. Best surf I've had in a long time and in boardies (trunks) too.

Don't know whether you can get these in the states, but they're brilliant. I wore Churchills for 30 years before trying these. Still plenty of drive but soft and flexible with no cursed toe cramps. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TECH-2-SWIM-Fins-NEW-SILICON-Training-Fins-size-8-9-/280659318745?pt=AU_Spo...
