Sorry SCGARY, but I grew up in Norcal, learned to surf and still have a house in Stinson Beach (place of two recent attacks) and have had MANY spooky experiences between SF and Santa Cruz.... btu if some one gets chomped at Lowers, I'm out there the next day. Obviously, the 20% voting "If the waves are good, I'm out there even before they open the beach!" have never had the "up close and personal"

Doctor tells me it is most likely a damaged bicep tendon. Here's the rub: It only really hurts when I put my shirt on or s...

I have helmut and actually worn it a few times. I hate it. Its heavy and tends to slide down my forehead at the wrong time. It also limits lifting of your head when paddling. I tried a size smaller and it felt like my ears were being torn off. I wear a hood most of the time and have decided unless ...

Re: helmets - health and safety

How do who wears a helmet and why? mine keeps me warm in winter, has visor so offers some sun protection and gives that extra bit of security when the young bucks are flicking their boards everywhere as they shoot off the back of the wave. Just general head protection! Given the different sports th...

show proper respect At least when I was in HI that meant don't drop in behind as well as not in front of... I haven't had that problem on the big island but did see it on the north shore fairly often when someone new would paddle out into the lineup and draw the wrong kind of attention to himself.....
