i find that i get less cramps in my calves if i drink some sports drink before i go in the water. A good way to stretch the vulnerable leg muscles is to stand, without shoes, two or three feet from a wall. With arms straight, place your hands against the wall. Now keeping your feet flat on the floo...

- Topic: Kneeboarding hazardous to your shoulders?

Just back from the chiropractor who is resetting my shoulder after every swell. He freaked when I told him how I surfed. He noted that my muscles in front of my shoulder are over-developed and the muscles behind my shoulder are under-developed, causing the shoulder blade to be pulled forward and on...

Re: Railgrabbing -- explain this to me
I don't kneeboard exclusively, but for sure it's my favorite style. I've been into Dale's mats for the last 5+ years, but anyway, I'll turn to my kneeboard whenever it's sizeable and dredging. So what's the deal with rail grabs? I gather from some of the comments here that it's considered bad form?...

Hmmmmmmm.........I wouldn't want a leash upfront ......if it wraps around your neck during a wipeout in the high agitation cycle......you're toast.......my personal opinion........I like to get as far away from my board as possible in those situations That's possible I suppose, but I never had that...

Re: cast your stones
Use the creatures of leisure matt lacky model bicep leash with an added big-wave nomad coil to give that extra length...... i like this because theres no drag of a leg leash behind you and if your ever caught on a huge sucking rock with 15 foot whitewater pounding into you at mavericks and your lea...

There was a killer whale attack on an Ab diver in the late 60's early 70's at Pigeon Point. I remember it well since I was diving alot myself and word of it spread thru the dive community pretty fast. The diver was taking his breath at the surface and looking down in preparation for a dive when he s...

Re: Train
The usual fitness for now, I'm headed on a trip mid Sept, but when I get back it's going to be a lot of Aquatic Park in SF, (swimming in the bay with a 4/3 on) that works the best for me, other than that, yoga, running some weights etc. I saw some guy at Montara on Sat. jump in the water (wetsuit a...

Had a talk today with a few of the local boys, endured about 45 minutes of kneelo jokes, good stuff, just taking the piss. The Lane boys are in a class of their own, be prepared and no thin skin's or chips on you shoulders!! You'll probably be worse off on land than in the water. My experience with...

The matts Dale builds are very deceptive in their appearance especially since they are ridden about 60-70% inflated. Walking to the water you look like you're carrying a black trash bag. But once on a wave they are soooo fast. People usually think your full of crap when you tell them this but I've h...
