Thanks Scott for your thoughts and insight! Yes this board is probably a capable board builders attempt at a spoon of a different flavor. I'm going to go ahead and do all of the necessary repairs and see if we can't get her back in the water some time soon. I'll make sure to give you all an update a...

Would love to ride this board but unfortunately I weigh 220 pounds and this board at 5'3" and narrow at 21" was obviously made for a smaller guy. Will be building one more suited for a heavier rider in the near future. But you never know, If at some point I get this spoon repaired and it s...

This one has an opaque cream color, kind of unusual. The board is L =5'3", kind of narrow at 21", nose is 19 and tail is 15 3/4". The foam narrows down to nothing at the nose like it's pinched and the foam on the rails extends all the way down, unlike most spoons that have plenty of f...

Thanks! Yea, I guess I am. I've collected lots of boards over the years, some people brought them to my attention, other times it was a garage sale or just dumb luck. I've got rid of almost all of the longboards but still have a few old kneeboards kicking around that I couldn't bring myself to get r...

Flex spoon

Would like to speak with someone that knows their stuff on flex spoons. Found one under a house in Carmel Valley that looks to be the real deal. No markings but pretty cool, old and dusty. And to think that someone forgot about such a specialty surf craft. Anyway just looking for someone that might ...

Thought about that but with the suntanned resin it would discolor where the repairs were. A fin re-set would do the same. Although repairing this board would get it water tight and show worthy for my friends it would permanently alter an original Lis fish, but then so would the total re-do. Just wei...

I have had great results using vector quads. But noticed that all of the commercially made rear fins were set to the back of the slot. Glenn at Rainbow fins will custom make any fin set for any application. I had him make me a couple of vector quad sets in blue fiberglass instead of the plastic, and...

Old Lis fish

Was in San Diego a while back and found an original Lis fish under some weeds at a friends house. Got the board for $50. Someone tried to fix the de-lam and removed two patches of foam from the deck and left it unrepaired. So I'm not quite sure what direction to take with the repair / restoration on...

Hey Dan, Congrats on your induction. The kneeboarding archive section sounds cool. If it ever comes down to it contact me about that. I have a complete collection of Surfer magazine that may be useful in getting some old kneeboarding photos and articles in addition to what you guys up there might al...

The flatness couldn't have come at a better time. I had hernia surgery on May 29th and thought for sure that I was going to miss tons of surf during my 3 month recovery period. Turns out that I got my winter quiver together, winterized the truck, and took a 2 week medical vacation on top of it all. ...

New V-Duck Feet fins

Always curious, I got ahold of the owner of Ebodyboarding.com and asked about the new V-Duck feet fins. Turns out that the V-Ducks are just a cut down version of the original. Voit took 2 inches off of the blade and gave them a splash of color. Thats all. Since they don't carry the new fins in XXL J...

Yea, I tried the Hydro fins and they do have a large toe box and were extreamly comfortable but they lacked in power. The blades were significantly shorter than the ducks and they felt like they were not giving me any thrust. I would like to know more about those V-ducks. Anyone use them yet? What's...

Yep, my feet are 9.5 X EEEEE width. I'm forced to wear Duck Feet super XL. Duct tape and Oneill 3 mil booties are mandatory weather in Big Sur or the tropics. I'm never without fins, duct tape and booties. Sorry to hear about your loss Dan. Choose your fins carefully, they're not all the same. some ...

I was looking at some of the Firewire boards at the local shop here in Monterey and the craftsmanship looks good but that's as far as I go. They are supposed to have similar flex charicteristics to a poly board. But for more than $700.00 each I'll save my money. I can make 4 boards for that price.
