Re: How often do you get hit hard by your board

I probably get hit by my board a couple times a year. I've three memorable instances of severe contact, in all of these instances I knew things were going badly before I suffered the consequences. They all seem to correlated to tube riding and not being able to get board separation as Joe noted.

Re: Catch Surf or foamies

Did you go for it, if so how did it turn out? I've thought about getting one for a long time for shorbreak sessions or as a travel board (no board fees if short enough and won't get dinged in handling). So tell us...

Parkes quad fish ripped off at Ocean Beach

Hey, I'm sending you all this as you surf and know others that do to. My new board was swiped at Ocean Beach this evening around 5pm. It's a 5'10" Parkes quad fish, white with blues rails, teal fins and a black and blue cove pad. I'll put some photos in the gallery too. This is the fucked part,...

Oregon Coast Road Trip July 2016

Driving up the 101 from SF to Portland and have never before explored the Oregon Coast. I know its not the best time for surf but it's when I can go. Prepared with kneeboard, surfmat, handplane, windsurf board and hiking boots. Any suggestions on surf spots or other travel related data would be grea...

I second the, "make it fit in a body board bag" or just take a bodyboard. It really sucks to pay board fees for something you might not even use. My solution is that I'll often travel, especially if work travel, with a bodybaord as they offer some real benefits, no bag fees, don't get brok...

Thanks for all the input, it sounds like for the most part my method is the common method. I'm going to add a tail pad and call it a day. On a side note, I also incorporate kicking into my duck dives, once the board is down and under the wave I'll kick through and up and out the other side. You'll n...

The duck: to knee or not to knee

I'm wondering how others perform their duck dives. I've long been using a knee to push down the tail of my board to sink it as I extent my front arms to dive the board. Do others do as this or otherwise? I ask as I've been starting to compress and fracture the tail area of my boards from doing so bu...
