Re: Introducing Torsion Drive Stringers on Kneeboards BSD

Hi Barry, Great to see you taking proper interest in kneeboards! Greenough spoons are a very different beast to modern performance boards and as such would be worthwhile checking out the Crawford/Crozier boards which quite often had a flex tail as part of the overall design. Crox over here in the UK...

Re: Kneeboard Glassing

Hi, I usually go with a 6oz and 4 oz on deck with a 4oz bottom. Weight does make a difference to me and I like them light and lively! Not often I get to surf anything that would worry me about the board breaking though would definitely go heavier if that was the case.

New boards

Been a while since been here, good to see it up and running again! Some of you may know I did a twinny earlier this year, glass on flex fins, channel bottom fluted top rail, orange tint, ended up going really well to the point where I got back on my old favourite tri fin the other day and it felt lik...

For a fins forward thruster start with the rear fin at half the distance of front fins so if fronts at 17" put the rear at 8 1/2". Good balanced place to start from! Depends on style of board but 16" to 17" up for fronts is about average and for a 6'1" I'd go 17". Also ...

Definitely, people like Ryan burch give hope for the future soul of surfing! What he did on that chunk of foam blew the doors off a whole lot of theory and proves what was possible with minimal equipment and big imagination (and a huge amount of talent of course).

Hats off Chris! Looks like some fun stuff being tried by them will keep tabs on the progress for sure. Been pondering on this a lot in relation to your original question and as Red said, as long as you have surface area and enough rail and purely want performance then yeah sure you don't need it. As...

On a side note if you really want sensitivity, i've been riding surf mats a huge amount the last year. Nothing else like it!!!!!!!! Learned a whole lot of new things about waves for sure.

Isn't it Rob Rennie who rode those super thick tailed beasts with almost a platform on the back? Ok, so why do you want to discount paddling speed and ease of use when it's probably 90% of the time we spend in the water?? For ultimate performance to matter you need the ultimate wave on tap or its ir...

Hi Chris, I can't help but think that actually being a bit higher up will give you more power over the rail and how it enters the water as you have more leverage. Couple that with knees apart and weight low and forward to balance out and you have more options from a fixed position maybe? I guess it ...

Hi Chris, been asking myself the same thing recently! I've played with boards up to 42 litres (ridden without flippers), extreme definitely at my 85kg but boy does it go! At the same time one of my fave all time boards (i'm sure you will remember it!) was super thin and bladey with probably nearer 3...

Joe is on the money however looking at your design i would say pull both nose and tail out to nearer 17" at the 1' mark and also you will probably need nearer 4.5" rocker in the nose. I've been running tail as low as 1.25" but around 2" for waves with push will be fine. I've been...

Griz, thanks heaps for the info. Have managed to find a copy of the film over here and winging its way! I regularly ride my FT twin slab and have another I shaped myself that I think is going to have a single box dropped in it very soon!
