This is why I do so much mountain biking these days. With as little rain (and swell) as we've had, it is 6' and glassy every day in the back country, and uncrowded. That being said, Mike F, you missed a good morning at that spot near MasonS last week. I had a peak to myself. Not the same as indicato...

Caught a quick sesh down the street before work on the first NW swell of the fall to make it around Pt Conception. Been living on mtn biking all summer, very little windswell this year. I do wish my colleagues had consulted the buoys before scheduling a morning meeting tomorrow instead of Thursday w...

I order my deck pads custom cut from http://www.northshoreinc.com/. I send them a template, they send me pads cut, beveled, with PVA (peel and stick). Never had them peel off the deck. It was $70 last time I had them cut me a full deck pad.

I enter contests to: Push my abilities Surf a new break without a crowd Share the stoke. I know I'm not going to come even close to a win. But I find it satisfying to make it out of heat. In the water I enjoy seeing what maneuvers other surfers can pull of in the same surf. There is one other kneelo...

Surfed two local reefs in the last week that only break on long period swells. Size was only waist/shoulder high at spot one, but had it to myself for more than an hour which was just a delight, only two other people before that. Well overhead at spot two yesterday, super long mushy right pits, thre...

I find Shaun Tomson's "Surfer's Code" to be an inspirational read. Good for the non-surfers in your life too.

Four days in a row of good surf at the local, never got that last year all winter. Classic SoCal fall weather - mid 70's, sun, no wind. I'm sure there were better places to surf to the south and north, but hard to beat a walk down the street to glassy head high sets. Plenty of waves so good vibes in...

Hey, SWheeler, are you Steve who I see at MLane? One thing to be careful about is the that Rincon Classic bills itself as a locals good time, so I'm not sure how the organizers will respond unless we highlight the local interest. I'll send Chris Keet an email ... how 'bout you MasonS, you in? -- Jack
