The doctor is quite pleasant looking however, the camera is for evidence to your friends and family that you were definitely in a country not as lucky as both yours and mine. The facilities could be described as basic - I was asked to lay on a wooden bench with a sheet already very bloody and then a...

Some tips; There are only two ATMs in Krui and both wouldn't accept mine or my mates cards, so take extra cash from Jakarta or Bandar Lampung. If you didn't take heed of my first point and you need to go up the mountain to try the bigger communities ATMs {a crazy hour and half drive} make sure you d...

Was in South Sumatra last year and spent time watching the AFL at Damai great group of crew and a nice part of Indonesia, not a perfect Indo wave and lots of surf camps but an interesting place and a cool vibe.

Visited the local surgery I would advise all of you contemplating visiting this area to avoid it - lovely lady but very sketchy facilities! Take some coffee bags - no real need for mozzie repellent as there were very few in this area and mozzie nets are provided at Ombak Indah. Take an old phone get...

Twist my arm...off to the Mentawais

Well after much dreaming, networking earsdropping and googling my planning for an Indonesian land based assault was somewhat "legless". Perhaps too many options and opinions of those options has played a part but my mate and I could not come up with a standout destination, and so we procra...

Scotty bummer about your injury - but time will go quite quickly and in no time you will be thinking about rehab! I hated those injections not that I'm a wimp but the actual stabbing of your own belly sometimes used to get to me! I hope all goes well and your christmas new years is not too hampered ...

paddling techniques

I am currently the unfittest I have been in a while due to an achilles rupture and subsequent recovery from surgery, and I am getting in one surf a week if I'm lucky! Added to that is the fact that I am down to one fin as I wanted to give my injured leg time to recover without the risk of wearing a ...

Follow up

Well it 13 weeks since my achilles rupture so 12.5 from the surgery and it is going so well I have "almost" forgotten about the initial setback. I have started walking/jogging/struggling again and yesterday I had my best surf since the injury. I am still only wearing one flipper which I se...

Re: Ruptured Achilles Tendon

[/quote] My injury was similar to Tony's but my surgeon tied the "wet toilet paper" end of the tendon to my plantar tendon for strength. Requested hydro therapy in a swimming pool and against an increasing jet stream. The PT routine included a lot of stair steps and balance boards after be...

Cheers guys for your advice and personal stories, I did do a search once I realised there were quite a few of us that have done this injury and it was great to read of everyones trials and subsequent progress. This was exactly what I was after as after all kneeboarding is pretty unique and comparing...
