I always wade in untill about waist deep and then put my fins on. At wedge though I have to put them on out of the water, you just get used to lifting your feet higher. I bet I can run almost as fast now with vipers on then with bare feet after alll of the practice I got last summer.

I like having difffrent types of boards for diffrent situations, or just to change up the feel. The board I am riding now I think is 6'3 x 23 x 2.5. I had it out in decent size and shaped waves today and it went pretty good. I would hesitate to make any judgments about the board yet as my technique...

why a new board? why not another used one? If it has to be a new one... the only advice I can offer is if you choose a shaper that has very little or no experience shaping kneeboards... take the cash and burn it before you give it away on something that is probably not going to work I am totally op...

A group of bodysurfers (myself included) rented that thing last summer. Some of them were very good. Me? I was sucked through the thing about 50 times. I have pictures of myself vertical n the tube, that thing is gnarly. BTW, 1st post, cool site. Thaks for the tip Ocean.
