Phil thanks very much for weighing in on this. I looked at the thread about your first sessions at Mavericks and wow man that's a huge cliff you're hucking off! I am still surfing (Westport WA mostly) and would love to cross paths some day but really I'm already too scared just looking at the pictur...

Mavericks question

I"ve wondered for a while if I was the first person to kneeride it. Let me qualify that by saying that "ride it" is subjective. In early December 1994 (before Mark Foo died, maybe early in the same swell or the one before). I was driving to my wife's parent's house in Monterey from SF...

Thanks -

So double 6 under the knees no matter how you get there. Any opinions on a patch vs the whole deck double 6? And how big is the deck patch generally - like from the front of the deck pad most of the way to the tail? Thanks!

What's the typical glass configuration?

for a kneeboard of course. 6oz bottom, 6oz top, 6oz patch in kneeling area? I ask because I'm having board built and the suggested glass is 6 bottom, 2 X 6 top, 6 oz patch. Is this too heavy or okay? It's no gloss coat, S glass. I'll use a Cove pad - probably the thinner one but could go thicker if ...

Thanks for the tips. And for saying I look young enough to change. I'm 47 but my degenerative discs feel more like 87 :) Got back out on a nearly identical day at the same spot and tried a more forward posture. it was fun - like posted like riding a motorcycle or something, or like a rollercoaster s...

thanks for the advice already got some new fins, FCS G8's with a glass-like flex, about like the ones you pointed out. They've helped quite a bit - wash out way less easily than the similarly sized very light composites it had previous. As for my upright style I've had it for over 30 years so I'm af...

Figuring out the "new" Flashpoint

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61HGWHCFxuU&feature=youtu.be 6'-8' faces, offshore, and warm in a 3/2 - gotta love September up north. It's been an adjustment but getting the hang of the used Flashpoint I bought off the forum a few months. If I could just get it to stall for a barrel w/o sliding ...

Best,

Calf Cramps! Anybody got a solution?

Hi all As I've gotten, ehem, older I've developed more and more trouble w/ calf cramps when riding. They happen to my when I'm riding almost all the time now - really a problem. It happens usually when I do cutbacks/tense my calves when riding. A long time ago it was just at the end of long waves at...
