Just the sort of info/stories we need!.....but....don't stop talking about designs! What style of four fin was Dale interested in? I had several with the small fins in front of the main ones...was this your design & when did the fins shift to the rear? David surfed twin fins so well because he k...

Friar Tuck & Peter Ware

I'm hoping Peter can fill us in on some early history! I remember the early adverts & the joy of finding those glossy boards in the racks of surf shops when travelling through Australia in 1980. My first questions are - What year did you start making boards & when & where did you move in...

An interesting find - http://www.mairsurfboards.com/pages/design_portfolio.html My first thought would be that "The Cuttlefish" is narrow at 21" wide and with the deck concave your knees would be close together making it hard to get power into the rail. I couldn't seem to find the inf...

Looks a long way back for kneeboard placement....& with the wide point forward could tend to be stiff...but then has short length on it's side...think I would go for something on the smaller side for fins.

I wonder how the split tail concept work on a fish board. Would the twin pins make this board loser or would you just not get the hole effect of the split? Would the slight bevel running along the bottom rails from the nose towards the belly have positive effect or negative effect? This could be th...

Thanks for that Max. My last three boards have been wide square tails.....but when the waves get sucky I tend to ride a narrower tailed "old faithful"....but I must give them a try. It might well have been that my wider tailed boards were slightly over finned & got sucked up the face w...

Calling Maxb......regarding wide tails!

Just looked at your new board...I'm guessing its made for weaker waves but how wide a tail would you ride in sucky tubes? I was having problems in some tubey waves in France...just getting flipped in some deep barrels...so I changed to a narrower tail board & it sorted the problem out. . But!......
