It really was a great trip! I started in Kauai where I got to surf the bay really good. Lots of different types of boards out there, from air lubricated surfboards( holes in the deck traversing to the bottom into a big channel) short boards that are really thick (3 1/2 to 4 1/2 ") so they paddl...

Congratulations Tom!! I was so stoked to hear that you and Mike both won your divisions. We were whooping it up for you in Hawaii. You guys aren't getting older, you're getting better! I've watched Tom surf since the late 70's and have always been inspired by his style both in and out of the water.An...

Well, back in the day..... When my boards did'nt have pads they would last 6-8 months and they were glassed 6&4 oz deck with a 6 oz patch. They would soon delaminate and would either snap or get heavy and I'd have to wear a v-ball knee pad to surf. To me, pads are a wonderful thing after you get...

You can add me to the list Trout. I think I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'll laugh at almost any joke and can appreciate wit and sardonic humor but I found nothing funny about Gene's comments. What's funny about being called a whiner or a poseur or a kook? I'm one of the guys who regularly su...

Great stories guys! I met Albert at the D-bah contest in 1985, there was some marching going on that night too Jamie! I don't remember much of the details(!) except the marching song, "do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do" ! We hung out with Albert in Sydney and later, caught up in Bali for a mo...

Hi Guys, I brought 4 boards on the trip, all shaped by Buddy. They were a 5'7" f2k fish, a 5'10" double wing round pin, a 6'0" f2k fish and a 6'3" double bump swallow tail in case it got huge. The boards were all four on the floor with fuel injection. The one that was filmed the ...

Make sure you crack it Matt, my brother,Mike and I scored the bay a few days in a row a couple years ago. We got there before the masses and were out before it got too hectic. It's the opposite of the BMC!

It doesn't matter what you get as long as you get a deal on it! I'm all about being toasty, either that or I'm a wimp when it comes to cold. I had a Body Glove Vapor 5/3 last winter up there, it was warm but the knee patches disintegrated within days.Hopefully they have changed their designs. The bo...

I've had the same experience as Kman, I've been using plugs for the last 20+ years with no significant increase in severity, mine are both 90+ occluded. I also use a mixture of 2/3 Alcohol and 1/3 vinegar to help evaporate the water that does get in, it's the same ingredients that's in Swimmer's Ear...

Sounds like a great session Ross. I met Damien and Kym? in Oz and Bali in 1985 along with Dale Ponsford in the US in 1981, they were all charging back then and it's great to hear that they haven't slowed down. This age thing is between your ears!! Damien helped my brother out in Bali when he came do...
