report

Scott----you caught the window--surfed the same spot 'bout noon. Marginal, inconsistent, barrels to small to allow a clean exit, mostly a rock dance, all to myself for good reason. Around 11 o'clock today swell filled in, solid but high tide warbles, opted for low tide check at 4. Swell backed off b...

Red, interesting you report delam cautions when Innegra site touts "superior grip in composites." Red, epoxy or poly resin? When overlaying with glass cloth did you apply seperately or go for both layers at same time? What substrate? Innegra has been looking good, delam is a major strike a...

new years

Next day, same time, same place, round 2. Swell filled in hitting the reef differently, not as perfect or flawless, had to settle for very good waves and session 8) . Word was out so crowd was on it but still manageable. Plenty pits . Happy New Year to All!!!

new year

Scored today, reef slab showing small and inconsistent but no one around, tide droping, went out to"get wet". Within 10 mins. of entering the slight wind stopped and a new forcasted swell started showing. Each set bigger and better. Barrelfest merry-go-round. Still solo. Then it went sheet...

In SC, all the little college kiddies run off to see Santa Ma & Santa Pa.
If you scout around there are GOOD sessions to be had with low key low crowd. Size is predicted this weekend, puts fear in the faces of the remnant flotsam. 8)

flex

Food for thought.....all flex spoon bits I've heard of discuss the need for fine tuning the degree or intinsity of flex to suit the individual. Loading up the glass at the onset with the intent of sanding down layers after riding to fine tune the amount of flex. Spoons are well suited for those alte...

"Still don't understand why hulls climb though." My take, same reason a plane wing lifts, air or water flow over the curve. There are terms and details but that stuff always makes my head spin

epoxy

REAL good stuff guys!!! 8) . I'm looking at epoxy for my next homebuild and theirs alot of info floating around. This thread helps narrow things down. Innegre sounds like the sh't. For Epoxy, I'm gleening thru tidbits I can find and leaning toward ResinX. Feedback that I see is it's increased flexab...

Two extremes, hull or chine, which both could be disected for either there positive or negative input to the forward entry point. Both IMO utilized by those that have logged the time into researching and riding what suits "there style" or what they hope to accomplish on the face. Hulls wil...

new project

Now you've opened a can of worms! Guess it's not covered in the video? Straight edge, tape measure, keen eye and smooth transitions needed. I'm in Santa Cruz and a trip up to the city for surf and assistance in any phase of board building is no big deal. We could knock it all out in a day. PM if nee...
