Northern Baja this morning-1-2' overhead, howling Santa Ana offshore winds, light crowd, spitting barrels. Welcome back Brad!

I have a couple of old boards, you can have one for free if you don't mind handles or the color orange. I'm in San Diego, come and get it!

I'm thinking of getting a white phone just so I can call the prime minister of the Maldives for a surf report. That was some of the funniest stuff I've read on this site, and it wasn't even intentional.

Kneeboarding Mavericks by Phil Curtiss

I went to high school with Phil, and we traveled separately to NZ to live in the mid 70's. As a matter of fact-he is my daughter's godfather! I lost contact with him for almost 30 years, until he walked up and sat down at a table in the restaurant during the 2004 nationals in Santa Cruz and announce...

Kneeboard fins, vipers vs duckfeet

As Bill so eloquently stated, I have been a duck feet enthusiast for over 40 years. My feet are a size 9 1/2 and in the winter I wear a pair of 3 mm soft booties under a pair of hard sole dive booties all warmly tucked in a pair of super extra large blue and black duckfeet. I have the warmest feet i...

surf report 2010

Northern Baja report-2' overhead on the largest sets at our favorite south swell beach break, a little inconsistent, but some throating barrels. No one out and a 23 minute Sentri line border wait.

K eeboarders age today?

Thanks for the kudos Scott, just trying to set standards for the young whippersnappers! In all seriousness, I owe a lot of my style to the handles on my boards, they may seem like a kook item, but offer an incredible amount of control in many circumstances, particularly off the bottom. I can pull th...

Kneeboarders age today?

I'll be 60 in July, but like a good wine, some things get better with age! In 2004 I went to Tahiti and freaked out at the Aussie boards that were 3" wider than mine with fins in the middle of the board!. Since then my shaper James Mangano and I have evolved my fish template to what it is today...

Tim Tenny rode to Mexico with us today and gave us his version of the incident on our way south. He helped get Chris onshore, which took awhile as you can imagine, dragging a body through the whitewater on a double overhead day. When they got him onshore, he was literally blue, and his body was bloa...

Todos Santos Big Wave Event Is On!

After an hour and a half we decided to head back to the mainland to surf another boat only access spot, and got the shot for Surfline before we went back through the channel between the islands. The tide had dropped, and the swell was nearly closing out the passage, making us all a bit nervous. On t...

Todos Santos Big Wave Event Is On!

Thanks to my friend and fellow Mexico charger Denny Moody, we were able to experience the Todos contest yesterday. Going out in his 22' Parker, we traversed our heaviest seas ever to get out to the island. The tide was full, so the channel between the islands wasn't closed out, yet. What we found wh...
