Spain Spill

Oh yeah...forgot about the Prestige Oil Spill. Oil is still washing ashore all along the west coast of Portugal and Spain and the North coast of Spain 9 months after the spill. The Basque area is the hardest hit and some beaches remain closed. FYI this spill will dwarf Exxon Valdez in damages for se...

Spain

San Sebastian is within day range driving from Madrid, and I agree worth the trip. You can also fly into Bilbao from Madrid or Barcelona and drive north. There may even be commuter flights into San S. Biarritz and Hossegor are just north of San Sebastian. Plenty of surf shops around these two towns ...

Panama, you will learn to love those fins. Use em to dig in and launch.

Stingers

Scoop,

Actually had to make the stinger fins a little longer because the board was so loose.

The pic doesn't show well because of angle but wide point is way back, and I ride back on the board, that is why I pulled in nose. Really a fast and loose board but able to handle some size.

Measurement and Design

The board pictured was built after an in-the-water session with the shaper. My old board was marked with wax balls with our design ideas and template built in the shop. Has been my magic board for how and where I surf.

Knee Knots

I made the transition from longboards and knee paddling to kneeboards 30+ years ago, and my knee knots are still with me.

Better deck pads and less time in the water have mellowed the knots, but they will tear open occasionally.

Anyone had any problems from knee knots?

Warm Water "Ear"

the "ear" does not only happen in cold water. as a long time warm clime surfer I have blockage in one ear. local docs in Texas did not know what it was, took a doc who had worked in Santa Cruz to diagnose.
