if you're surfing one foot windswell that makes no demands on your skills and fails to give you much of a thrill, then you have to do something to keep yourself awake and amused.
it's either do a few spins, get a sheila to sit on your shoulders or ride the board on your head.

i have a scoop deck. it's an absolute dog. i know you also have issues with duckdiving...scoop decks are impossible to get under a wave with the foam left in the nose. Unless the water spills in to the area that has had the foam removed and gives it neutral buoyancy. In a theoretical world this woul...

i'm goofy-footed and prefer lefts. however, it's only a slight preference. i also suspect my right bottom turns might be better and stronger. perhaps because i'm driving through with my dominant left shoulder?

like eq, i really like the feel of the sweet spot under me, it's was the most obvious and exhilirating difference from the slabs. i guess that's why i'm so pro lots of volume in the middle (with thin nose and tails). i have a narrow scoop deck board, from the pre-slab days. it would be less volume t...

... What I'm trying to do is rationalize the amount of foam....why do we need so much more? Is it because we collectively are an ageing bunch who have put on the pounds & are prepared to sacrifice performance for an easy paddle? I'm trying to find out the reasons kneeboarders feel they need so ...

if you want less foam then the velo spoon is for you...

i always thought the genius of the kneeboard is that it manages to pack a lot of foam into a board and still make it high performance.

looks like both sides of the pacific have been going off! northern nsw/southern queensland has been getting the best of it. any reports womble or analb? they're probably still stuck inside a barrel. it's been too messy in sydney, with winds ripping things apart for the past week until today. i only ...

those soar fins look very nice -- and they make tri-fin sets with a smaller centre fin, just the way i like it!

nice find.
maybe take the middle path? have a quality ding repairer fix the deck and fin. then give the board a clean with cut and dry. bob's your uncle.

that does sound really good. i want to visit!

here's a very amusing story from another forum (realsurf, australia) of surfing that stretch of coast. the quality and abundance of waves make the place seem very attractive:

good work wolruss. i would hate for tin man to come all this way and not catch a few waves, especially with this swell. i was a little late getting out this morning. the wind had destroyed bronte and clovelly bombie, while south maroubra was a protected, maybe a little too protected with smallish wa...

i'm in sydney...eastern beaches and have my days free. there's a decent swell coming through at the moment! i only have one board atm...the other was badly fin chopped last week. unless you want to ride a 70s slab with a 12" raked fin. maybe we could drive down and visit wolruss...better waves ...
