Scientific/philosophical theory: the act of looking at something, changes it. By the time the light particles that are bouncing off the object (thereby changing it, if only in the smallest fraction, by adding or subtracting energy from the object) travel thru space to reach your eyeball, are processed by your optic nerve and recognized by your brain, that which you are looking at is no longer what you are seeing. It has changed. You never really see anything, you only see an image of what it was, a nanosecond before you saw it.
It is an illusion.
Something to be considered, when you think you know what's right before your eyes.
Talk about Fast! The world and everything in it is moving and changing on an atomic level right before our eyes -- faster than we can even see. It's enough to make your head spin ...
