Looking for quad shaper

I just picked up a Romaonski tri-fin, but want to add a quad. I used to have a Fineline quad (I think Brian Hilbers shaped it). It was really light and fast, but squirly. Looking for a tip on a good brand/shaper for a new quad. thanks.

I would say Rich Pavel but he told me today he is backed up 300 orders and/or 8-9 months.The fish is alive and well.Blast in hawaii is your best bet in my opinion.

Why do want a quad

I had no idea this site was here. I've been kneeboarding for a long time. This is great info...much better than riding in the dark all these years. Thanks much.

Why a quad, someone asked. I like the way I can cut from turn to turn easily. Best on big freindly waves. But I like the tri I have now. But it seems like I really can't cut out of the wave in an instance...sort of a sluggish board when I want to turn sharp.

Thanks for the info...I'm thinking I may wait the 8-9 months for the Rich Pavel.

One thing I canadvise is to make sure you understand that different shapers will shape diffferent quads and tri's to the point where one shapers tri (or quad) will ride very different to anothers. Fin Placement as well as rail shape and about a 100 different other aspects of the board will make it turn differently in different parts of the wave.

One example. I rode a romo quad once, couldnt turn it to save my life... the pads on it were too thin, but also the fact that I had to put so much effort into making it turn was probably the reason my knees hurt for days afterwords. Shortly thereafter I rode a Parkes quad, and I couldnt control it at all, it was super squirly and all over the place.

The reason I put a quad as an example is to show the perspective of someone that never surfs them.

Also that I have noticed, there are a lot of people that have been blown away with the amount of input people give on this site. (myself included). There are a lot of questions asked, and a lot of differrent opinions that often disagree, but thats what makes this site so great.
