Neil's collaborated with Parksey for years. He sometimes goes up to Byron to shape with Dave.

Well you guys are talking about me, so I might as well join in!!!!!

I've made four-finners and have recently made a couple of double-fly pintail four-finners as custom orders. I rode one myself and it went really well. It was fast, quick off the top and drivey through the turns.

The fin set up was FCS GR's in the front and G1000's in the back. The bottom of the board just had a slight roll. It was 6'1" x 23 1/2" x 2 12", an 18" nose and a 16" tail. Unusual dimensions but the thing went really well.

The customer urged me to have a go on it and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely have one in my quiver. But I have been riding, and haven't really been able to get off "The Freak", which is a 6' x 24" x 2 1/2" double fly fish tail with chine rails, a 3 1/2 to 4" 45 degree bevel from nose to first wing that blends into a vee through tail. Feeding this is a single to double concave, quite deep. Using fibreglass Speeed S143 "VJ" fins in the front, and just a standard flexy polycarb S108 small fin in the tail (obviously there's only three fins here guys!!), but I think you could quite successfully ride this design as a four fin or even a twin fin.

It is a bitey board with heaps of drive and incredible speed. Probably the fastest board I've ridden. It takes me twice as long to shape them, but they're well worth it. Glassed in all 4-ounce cloth with a Protec finish, they start at $645. Check out the photos on the Phillip Island Kneeboard Classic website www.phillipislandkneeboardclassic.com.

My 5-10 is still going strong, but can i buy fibreglass fins for the REDX fin setup?

My boards have those chine rails too makes it fast and loose, with bite, and tons of drive.

Hey Neil

came across another kneelo at 13th beach today (crap surf

) who had a 2 week old island kneeboard under his arm his...name was Dayne...i think...poor memeory for names

anyways

it looked like he had "the freak" WITH SPEED FINS AND CHINE RAILS. I can see why they take longer to shape. Great looking board...pity the surf was crap as it would be good to see how he travelled on it.

He was happy with it but is probably looking for some real autumn winter surf to put it through its paces

Given its tthe second time ive seen him and it is the surf season i should catch him again for an update

nice looking boards.i noticed a shot of Richard Evans glassing from the link above.tell him ross from copa said g'day! :lol.being the generous man that he is he gave us a place to stay during a couple of particularly foul weather days on the island on our way home from WA last year.

Excellent Neil,after six months of hassling you to get on this site to share your knowledge and boards.Sorry I havnt dropped the last board you shaped over so you could get it on the site,will drop over monday or tuesday.I lost all my front teeth in a horror eat,thats why you havent seen me in the water or out and about.Great to have you on board mate.Taking this week off work catch up on some waves,regards Deano

Hello Folks.
Dorjie accosted me as I was walking up to the car this morning and is one of a few guys that have stopped and asked about the board. For the record folks, the "freak" that Dorjie refers to is a 6"2" x 24 1/2" (with me at 6'4" the size is proportionate) tri-fin, double flyer into a swallow tail, double concave bottom with chime rails.
Dorjie caught me wallowing in 2' onshore slop, so he's right, the board did not show its true form. However I have had it out in 3' clean and offshore and it is a thing of beauty and a marvel to behold. Mr. Luke makes a very nice board and he's surely onto something with this setup.
