Ok, I would say a fish is meant to be surfed on rail .I don't think they really come on until they are up to planing speed then, they loosen up and give a new meaning to rail turns and Drive.All that rail in the water does wonderful things.Take one out in juicy, overhead ,quality, surf and see what Lis was up to 30 yrs ago! Not everyone trying to surf one thesedays is a just a bandwagon jumper either.....they have NO TOP END .

oh yeah, great pic of that guy sinking max tail at the Rock. I was curious, tho...is that Toby board a keel or quad???

Kidrock, that one is a quad...and if you look close at the pic you'll see the two fins, one black the other white...as far as "on the tail" look at the waterline! see the bump? low to high to low thats why it appears to be on the tail it's really powering thru ON THE RAIL! you all dont miss much! hahahaa!

yeh, those conditions were pretty typical for the Rock (the way I remember). I used to love the chatter my Lis would make when I speedlined over those monster boils

Tomway had asked about Rich's fin placement on the quads. Rich is using Lokbox fins from Rainbow Fin Company which allows for some adjustment forward or back. Center of the back box is 7+3/4" from the tail tip. Center of the forward box is 13+1/4" from the tail tip.
The trailing edge of the back fin should be in about the same position as the trailing edge of a twin keel.
Move the fins closer together to loosen it up, further apart to make it stiffer.
