hey bob,
yeah mate i reckon the channel bottoms are the go in the clean conditions.i'm finding with mine that it doesnt really like lumpy surf.
i'm thinking that its gonna go really well in 6ft point/reef waves.if we ever get any again
my part of the world has been very average for about 3 months so i'm not getting the chance to test my "good wave boards" much at the moment.i've got a 6'6" i made when i was hoping to make the NSG 05.it hasn't been ridden yet :x
back to channel bottoms, after years of watching some of our best surf,i'd say my style is forward and low to the board,a direct influence from these guys.
when making my channel bottom alot of blokes i spoke to offered advice assumiming that i was planning to engage the tail as surfboard riders do.which we all know is not applicable to us.i try to use my rails as much as possible and dont go in for flicking and flapping.
the way i see it, the water still passes through the tail when we are travelling.so the channel effect is significant regardless of whether we turn from the tail or not.
something interesting to note is that i feel like the "sweet spot" is smaller(ie-harder to pinpoint) but its much sweeter than the average. 8)
Andrew
mate your location is bizzare 8).i pissed meself.get back to us soon with the new small board report eh?

chanel bottoms nose to tail concave

Post by stevea »

with the nose to tail concave it was butch cooney who was the influence but i didnt stay with them for long i felt that they tended to track but that could have been many things contributing same with vee in the tail i felt that it made cutbacks sticky .the board that im currently in love with has concave from nose to about a third back leading into a double concave vee and flat through tail it flies is super responsive with a sweet spot similar to what ross says ps its a little too small at times but i find that im adapting

I saw one that looked hideous.

She was immense. Her thong disappeared into the folds of her blubber.
She’d been sitting in her beach chair for too long. You know, the ones with those diagonal vinyl straps.
When she stood up the chair came with her.
She struggled a bit to extricate herself from the chair.
It left these deep red channels across her bottom.

Ruined my day.....................really.

Hi chaps

When this thread started I instantly thought of this board........sorry for taking so much space but it needs a few angles to get the picture....must have been a nightmare to shape, glass & sand!!
This is the first shot of ten in the boards gallery - album_showpage.php?pic_id=6025
