Your avatar preceeds your story. Get over it Bee and apoligize to the girl. You have an avenue through her post to do this. Your insight and knowledge of this sport of surfing far out weighs the common surfer. Take the higher ground and you may be surprised, or not. In any event you tried. Just a northern viewpoint.

hmmm
hmmm...thinking...thinking....
..when keeping it real goes wrong....girls piss me off in the lineup....alot...some my friends , some total strangers....but i feel there is a much higher percentage of kook-females then kook-males.....they do use their sex as reason to drop in..that said....ive hit a girl before..in drama class ...she just pissed me off so bad..ya know talking umm"good word"..the internal conflict was too much afterwards and broke down and apologised and was given the cold shoulder......whatev..all i could do....ya hitting girls is wrong but dropping in is wrong....and a negative plus a negative equals a positive....its science..
..wait...im wrong again

Bee: yeah, often it's only looking back we can see what we did to cause something to go really bad. But mostly we defend ourselves to the hilt at the time. Jon's advice is sound, and you have an avenue to do this via her post; most of us don't have such simple ways to try to make right some of the boneheaded things we've done, that I've done.

I haven't known you for long or know you very well, and I didn't know you six years ago. But today you sure are one hell of an upfront guy. Everyone wants to be understood, you ask for that, but still take responsibility for your actions regardless. Maybe Jon's got the right idea to put this to rest.

Well yeah, you probably shouldn't have gotten physical. Escalation only leads to escalation. You probably wouldn't have odne so if she'd been a 250 pound muscle man w/ shaved head, scars and tatoos. And she was definitely taking advantage of that and cultural prohibitions to goad you. Given it the way you told it, she kinda deserved it. But then every story has as many sides as participants.
Of course the next step would have been for her to slap you, then for you to slug her in the chops then for her boyfriend and his friend to smack you and then your friends would pile on and and and.....
Given the overall context, an apology might minutely help the overall vibe in that overcrowded rat cage. (In case the metaphor isn't heavy obvious, put too many rats in a cage and they start to eat each others tails and fight to the death). I won't go out when its that crowded for just that reason. Too many rats and everyone regresses. Its just not fun for me. If I lived wherre that was the only option, I'd likely either quit or leave! Most likely leave

one day at four mile there were 10 to 15 guys in the line up; a guy and his girl friend paddle out. she was a beginner/intermediate on fun/longboard. She started taking off on any wave, never looked and basically didn't care if she was in the right or not. she had a hard time standing and usually waited until she bottomed out then stood up. she ditched her board twice in crowded area. I paddled farther up point figuring it was a safer place to be.
After about 45 minutes three of other guys got a bit upset and said something to women it didn't sound too bad. I think they suggested she go Cowells. They basically said what everybody else was thinking. She responded by a accusing the guys of harassment. In steps boy friend who was a pretty good surfer, starts getting all aggro. Girlfriend sees the attention, likes the reaction, starts to egg him on. The other guys are getting totally frustrated, the whole scene escalates. It clearly looks that a fight is coming. Syd exits the water never looks back shaking his head.
Crowded surf with girl friends seems to always amp up the situation. Thank god OB weeds the non serious folks out. Big City, rarely seen any aggro out there.
Bee, I admire that you can talk about the situation and reflect on it. This is the way our personal experiences, even negative ones, can make you a stronger person. Personally, what you did was not appropriate but I would give equal negative marks to Holly and her boyfriend for taking the situation farther. From the way she writes it, it seems she got off on having her boyfriend playing the protector role as well.
Reminds me of superstitions about women and sailing vessels

Beeline-
How am I "sliming" you by telling the truth?
Eric and I had to put up with an ENDLESS amount of crap because of you, but we never said a word... never even asked for an apology. We just sucked it up and took our lumps. You owed us.
You want to come after me personally?... like you guys did from "response one" to my post... fine. I'm a big boy. But I'm gonna fight back, and sometimes the best way to fight back is to tell the truth.
EQ
P.S. I STRONGLY recommend that this post be deleted a soon as Beeline feels enough people have read it. I have no problem with Bee telling his side... he's a man for copping to it... but Just like Pandora 2, we do not need this living in cyber-space forever on our site.

I watched the video on the thread that not there and i can say without a doubt (while laughing) that that chics a snake heh heh! till EQ's post i didnt knw who she was. Now if she was a kneelo? well i still wouldnt know who she was heh heh. Beeline has given me some good advise on kneeboarding and seems like a pretty straight up guy. this situation reminds me of a tongan and a samoan that I know. We were all at a wedding between a hawaiian and a maori. anyhow they got in a pretty mean fight (over? nothing, just chest thumping). the police came in force (as they usually do when they hear the word polynesian) anyhow. a week later i saw the same two guys at a fai kava in rancho cucamonga. they were getting along really well and no mention of the fight the week before was ever mentioned and they were very civil to each other. I asked one of the boys if there was gonna be some bad blood between them and he told me "that is the islander way. you may have a falling out but in the end its all water under the bridge and left in the past". something EQ should take note of.
Beeline, we all have a past of some kind. its a shame that it couldnt have been dropped. if it makes any diffrence? my opinion of you hasnt changed heh heh
