Eric will always make you a great board. If you get your fins glassed in and the board does not ride right, he will grind them off and make the proper adjustments until your happy. Very few shapers would go this far.
He does extensive R&D and his designs are prooven in all kinds of surf. Greg and I each rode our regular everyday boards in waves ranging from head high to 3OH+ on our trip to Indo last summer. Not once did we feel the need to gun up for any session.

I had a back muscle spasm after surfing on Thursday AM so I've missed the rest of this south swell :( . But I took the opportunity to clean up my board. My Schoelkopf has a blue pad and after just a few minutes in the sun I took a clean dry cloth and just rubbed it back and forth and all of the wax residue came up beautifully. It almost looks new again and the grip is certainly back to where it was before as well. Eric probably told me about this but if he did I forgot. You vets out there may already know this as well but if not, now you do :D

Revisiting this thread for those interested in Eric's boards. Barry has an epoxy that he really likes and in talking to Eric about epoxy last Nov I almost got one as well. With the Clark foam problem however I just couldn't make the leap to epoxy so suddenly....

6'6" fish

Post by nwdude »

i've seen two 6'4" fish by bud ( rw of san diego showed me ) - pure and simple paddling speed - think an old man whose local break can be a heavy current river mouth competing against @!#%'s on logs - a big wave board with getting in early a priority over flashing manuevers - i'm definitely a rail grabber to crank turns and ride the back of the board type of guy !

the best thing you can do is to call Eric for yourself.
otherwise you are just getting stuck with someone elses opinion.
and some people know a bit more than others
I have had Schoelkopf boards ranging from 5'7" up to 6'11"
so length of board is not an issue
as for type of board (reg or epoxy) that will be entirely your choice
as for style of board (fish, etc.) talk to Eric and then you can choose
whatever type feels best to you and the situations that you will be
putting yourself into.
p.m. me if you want more info

I'm getting a 6'4" FP, have a 6'1" also.(I'm 6'0" and a svelte,supple and lithe 195lbs)
:?: im 6'6" 300 of lean mean kava filled something or other  and i ride a 6'0 FP and 6'1DC. Here I thought my boards might be a little too big? BEELINE Maybe you are compensating large board length for *cough* small fin size? heh heh!
but i was also contemplating my next FP at 6'4. question is do i go with a fish or pin tail for surf 0-8' ?

Flashpoint?Pins are nice fish tails are nice too.... I've got a 5'10''nicely foiled ''square''tail, handles to 10 [on the face] easy.
So... that's another option :)
If my understanding is correct,a square tail will disperse water off the tail very efficiently, possibly more so than other rear ends...[certain types and sized waves].If I'm wrong,I'm sure I'll hear about it.

cheers

PS...hey don thanks, Whatever you did,dis ting work mo betta :D

board cost

Post by barry »

Beeline
the cost will vary depending on the bells and whistles....
airspray, standard inlaid deckpad, full length inlaid pad, etc.
the best thing you can do is give Eric a call (760) 505-4769
