Surfboard Design Workshop This Saturday

Post by surfhorn »

I'm sure a few of you KBers would be interested in attending. Just make sure you turn every point into a kneeboard question.

Do us proud!

Surfboard Design Workshop

Presented by Bill Thrailkill

Hosted by the Surfing Heritage Foundation

Saturday, February 13, from 9AM until 5PM

Topics to be discussed include:

“How to think about what a surfboard does, and how to shape for the characteristics you want the board to have”.

“Theories of Hydrodynamics”

“One vs two vs three vs four fins”

Various designs will be discussed; templates will be available for tracing, lots of Q&A.

2 EPS blanks will be given away as door prizes – a 6’0” fish and a 6’2” shortboard blank (donated by Segway Composites).

Bill Thrailkill began surfing in 1955 and has been shaping since ’58. He has shaped professionally for Dale Velzy, Challenger Surfboards, Hobie, Hansen Surf Systems and Surfboards Hawaii as well as his own label.

Workshop cost: $40 donation to the Surfing Heritage Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. Your admission includes lunch and a chance to one of the two blanks. Please contact us to reserve your spot. 949.388.0313. We apologize for the late notice, we have a few spots left but this is expected to sell out.
