Fin advice

Post by Jabba »

I'm refurbishing an old Flashpoint (circa 1985 designed for an Indo trip - 5'11" rounded square tail thruster) that I've found, has a centre fin box with small fin and two large glassed in side fins.

I ride up on the Sunshine Coast, Australia and generally surf beachbreaks in the 1 to 3' range (at least the water's warm!) and am not sure whether I should be considering replacing side fins (most of the refurb is dings and deck with new paint job) or not.

Would appreciate any advice as I have little budget and want to do the work myself (practising to make my own board eventually)
Cheers,

John

my advice:

if the side fins are still sturdy, with no cracks along the base or anything like that then keep them.
