$920 [Aus!] is much the same as we charge & there's not a lot of money in it!

I guess you need to be selling boards to know how low the margins are.....& kneeboard shapers/manufacturers haven't [as far as I know] signed a pledge to live on the breadline.

David has thirty years of shaping experience.....in most other industries that would command a far greater financial reward.

David came to Cornwall over twenty years ago and it was his skill as a kneeboarder & passion for the sport that really kicked things off over here....& I'm greatly looking forward to his return in the autumn to share some waves & do another batch of boards.

Im inclined to think Zoombiewoolf IS David Parkes engaging in some politically savvy (Howardesque) advertising. Hes employed a known cow chaser as his spokesmen.

The underdog is thought to do well collecting sentiment in this land. Having lost his passion we will all buy his boards to help him get it back.

This is the only conclusion I can draw from reading the above posts

Hands down zoombiewoolf,

read below...from the don of ksusa

As a reminder, KSUSA is an organization founded on creating camaraderie in the kneeboard community. This community has grown world-wide. This website would not be here if it were not for you the contributors. Before you post, ask yourself if you are promoting camaraderie and treating people with respect. It's really very simple. We have managed to keep ourselves fairly well policed so all we ask is that you keep the content as positive and constructive as possible in the hope to build a better community. Thanks, Don

dave has contributed more to kneeboarding and to your enjoyment of the sport, than just about any guy on the planet. The guy is built on passion.

I'm hooked on Parkes boards. I'd love to order more, and even try other shapers... it's not that they're overpriced, it's that I just don't have the discretionary income now.

Just had to get out there, as I haven't been in touch in awhile, and if he's getting the scoop via this thread, let him know I'm still very much a BIG supporter.

Glad to see we have steered this post back around to some positive stoke. I had purposefully avoided the subject of price because my wife occasionally reads over my shoulder... but it helps that you guys did address it (from two opposite perspectives!)
A gathering would be great! I rarely see another kneelo where I surf on the Right Coast.

K bump

Any time you get out here we leftys will try to get you the best time.
I suggest taking 2 boards home ( buy used ) Keep what you like. Sell off the other. If you sell to another KBr Then you make a frend :) If the powers that be have a gathering while you are here I will see you there 8)

Smells L Wellcome to the site I suggest going in to past post the reading is so informing. GFD if you are old like the rest of us.

i've just caught up with this crap about david parkes boards. I've got a flashie, two parkes and a Outer Island flextail. All are excellent boards. my latest parkes was a custom - i know, cause its specifically glassed heavy for samoa. it has survived some serious bombs, goes like a dream, was delivered very quickly to score cheap freight with my daughter and, david's advice on some finer details spot on. i'm not saying that he's the best - that's so subjective - but he has always provided me with great boards and superb service. anyone contemplating a Parkes.. as they say...just do it.

Bump -Wright Coast kneelo coming West

Post by KneeBumps »

Bump,
HI folks, thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I'll have two free days Aug 2 & 3. Staying in a motel in Oceanside, have a rental car (and a spouse trailing along as well). I'd like to get together with anyone who wants to surf. Bringing my fishie but looking for a used kneeboard to bring back, and I'd like to play with anything you got. (I know, I know, this has changed slightly from a new board to a used board, but the issue of cost rears its head, and did I mention my wife is coming?) I'll PM those who requested with details. I'm planning to do dawn patrol, should be flexible to hit the tide and wind correctly. Praying for surf -Really looking forward to a surf session with a few kneelos- I'm used to being the only one in the lineup!
