Glass How heavy????
Moderator: Moderator
By the way, guys I work with now (Stump) are laying up the cloth diagonally to improve twist response. 2x4 top, 1x4 bottom. Epoxy glass.
There's so much good stuff going on I can't wait to get back into it! (had to work too much past few months on the money train). Gioing to have something special or 2 for Bali in July.

Just reading through some of the comments and it seems a lot of people have a heavier glass job on top than the bottom. Why?(apart from knee dents). As I'm a flea weight, I want a board as light as possible (my board is 4oz all over), but I get a lot of pressure dings on the bottom from head, elbows and who knows what from wipe outs. On the top there aren't many and I don't care about knee dents, I actually like them for finding my place on the board.
What I want to know is has anyone ever had a 4oz top with a 6oz bottom? What effect might this have on the boards performance?

Just wondering, did the Swaylocks info mean standup boards? Also, wouldn't the deckpads a lot of us use now mean only 4oz all around is needed, instead of the extra material on top?

Re: Glass How heavy????
You more than likley have your board but as far as glass jobs go the main reason for dents and d-lams is the foam, it might sound odd but a higher density foam can be glassed lighter and it will not soak up as much resin as a lighter weight foam. weight will be slightly heaver than ultra light foam board but will hold up better with a 4oz bottom and a double 4 deck, add patches under fins or boxes. laterloonylen wrote:I'm wondering how heavy a glass job for my new stick I was thinking 4 oz on the bottom and 2x4oz top deck....... I weigh 90 kg's
Any input guy's ?
