I think the answer may have only floated thru a couple pm's with Syd and His Beelineness. The winner is a trimmed down version of Blast Stubb Vector. For 90% or more of California waves should work well to great. The slimmed down version is to increase the range upward. Syd actually suggested it and when I emailed the idea to Bud he wrote back that he had recently shaped several such with just that idea in mind! Synchrony. Great minds think alike. etc.
So the quad appeals to me because I've always like surf style of big drivey arcs using a lot of rail (stubby outline). Both to watch and to do (or at least try to do. I know, I know Yoda, "is no try, only do or don't do".) Never was much on the vert myself. Much more down the line and circle back sort of thing. Also, the Stubb template looks SOOO much like the single fin eggs I used to ride stand up on that nostalgia played a part too. And from what everyone I've heard comment who's ridden a Blast, you can't go wrong with one of Bud's boards
And, last but not least, Bud's bio really touched me. I love the come from behind fighting spirit that permeates what he has been through and overcome. Got to have some special mojo behind all of that

sounds good DrStrange
I think we have similar styles, however I do aspire to vetical compententcy so im going to get the oll tri fin reconed at some stage to work on that when conditions prevail. We've moved from a 70 minute drive from the coast to a 5 minute trip so ive been getting heaps more water time and with winter comming on....!
As for Bud you could'nt help but be inspired. Ive been wondering if he was the inspiration for the young girl from Hawaii to get back in the water and surf after the tiger shark took her arm not so long ago - amazing story
A friends girlfriend commented she had no excuse but learn after hearing about the Hawaiian girl. Their currently on a months surf trip up north.
well happy quad riding! Im up to my last payment on mine after tomorrow so we could compare notes later.
cheers
