Just spent the past month riding with a camping pad and no wax. With all the big surf we've had it probably wasn't the best time to experiment. Or maybe it was.
After my surf yesterday, I went home and striped off the pad. Just dones't do it for me. Guess I'm an old wax guy. The pad didn't provide the response to turns that I am used to.
The first three surfs I tried the pad were twice at New Brighton and then the third time at really, really big Rincon. It was sort of a freak-out, droppingi inot a macker wave with a deck pad that I was not at all confortable with. Just didn't want to peg one of the tourists that were scrambling all over the place.
Ah, sweeet, sweet wax!

I was thinking of going with the tradtional peel-and-stick-on pads. I have a tendancy to do-it-myself, thus trying out the camping pad first.
I was able to remove the pad and all adhesive easily.
I'll probably stick with wax for now since I'm in the middle of expermenting with fin sizes/placement. As soon as the blank issue settles down, I'll be cutting out a couple new shapes. I'll try the pads then.

Hey Brad
Thanks, just snapped those pics before i came to work this morning. Dave has full deck sets, or just your knees. The older bubble pads which I never had a problem with, he had two thickness's in these. My new ones are about 10mm thick but will compress close to the board for a great board feeling with comfort on your knees. Meets all my requirements perfectly.
I give them the thumbs up

I saw this material recommended on Swaylocks for paddle board pads. Lots of designs and colors.

This design is available for $25 for a 40" X 62" sheet.

If you try it, report back on how it works.
