paul...I'm posting on this thread because I can, as I said it is only my opinion. Yes I've ridden one of Eric's board's and for myself, I didn't like the way it rode, maybe because I'm used to riding fish's and as far as Bud is concerned, his experience ranks in the top three....as I said only my opinion or do I need your permission first before I post.....

Well I dont know about the rest of you "Half Men" but I read this thread from the beggining and not much reasoning why Erics boards are better..at this point this thread only looks like a .....yeah! we ride Eric's boards.... but no specs or explainations on the charecteristics of his shapes other than "Trippy resin fume inspired". oh! and "where the fins are placed"...... and a couple of limited discriptions of personal boards,..I was just talkin to a few KBers the other day and asked what they thought about Erics boards and got different responces, but I'm still interested in riding one!!! as I've only rode fishes for the last 30 yrs. So really this thread has not offered any reasons why Erics shapes are so much better...only a bunch of cheerleading!! I've been in the water with Barry and seen him RIP on Erics board... and out with Craig when hes chargin on his,.. so I'm sure these guys will tell you that Erics boards are better..... On the other hand I've been in the water with Rex(Barrel master extrodanaire) and seen him RIP on his Lis/Toby fishes and out in the water with RW at Indicators(Blast rider) and seen some Hairballin rides!!Its all a matter of perspective and experience..So lets hear some SUPPORTING EVIDENCE as PalnN states cause we wouldnt want to appear lame... right PaulN! by the way I didnt read Your Evidence... so dont be so Hard on Geno!.....(remember comraderie)... I think Bud comes on here and has been more than willin to discuss why his shapes do what they do!!! I know Eric dosent do the WEB but his board riders are on here ,so tell us why they are great shapes in the way they are designed and constructed and how they work in turns, and off the top and in barrels..... BTW..FISHES RULE!!! BUWAAAAHHHHH!!!
If you are coming from the sub 5'10" low volume Toby fish camp you will find Eric's boards to be big. Eric's boards are more inline with what you see coming out of Aus. His boards tend to be wider and thicker than the traditional fish. The wide point is usually back from center and the nose and tail are somewhat pulled in, single or double concave bottoms or what ever you ask him to do. He puts a nice nose and tail rocker on his boards, saved my a$$ a few times. You can go vert so much easier with this outline. He keeps a lot of foam under your chest where you need it to get into waves.
He'll shape you a single, twin, quad, etc... very open minded cause as he says, "it's your blank".
He and alot of guys who ride his boards are very high on his take on the "fins forward" quad set up. Smaller single foiled front fins and double foiled back fins set closer to the center and not very toed in. While the board I got from him with this set up did not work for me, I do ride a variation of this set up today. I currently do not ride his boards but I will vouch for his skill as a shaper and a glasser. One thing you will get from him is a true custom for you board. If it does not go, Eric will work with you to tune in the fins, etc... to make it work. A lot of shapers would not go that extra mile.
In a nut shell if you want to know what one of his boards are like etc... borrow one that is close to what you think you want to ride and see for yourself. Better yet call the guy, set an appointment to meet him and be prepared for an entertaining and enlightening couple of hours.
Have a nice day,
Wino.
