futures fins

Post by tsenn »

Anybody ride a quad fin fish with futures? I've got a 5'9" being made and was looking for suggestions of fins. I've only had glass ons in the past. I know my shaper will have suggestions, just looking for more. Thanks

futures fins

Post by Bob Gove »

My quads have always had fins unlimited boxes and fins for the front , and prior to my last 2 boards, glass ons for the rear. I switched to future fins for the rear 2 boards ago, mainly because of the small profile of the box and the fact that it is installed prior to glassing, with the glass going over the box, seemed like a strong setup to me. I still like the fins unlimited boxes in front because of the adjustability of the fins, and they take the brunt of my many collisions with rocks and other boards. I have only lost one unlimited box and fin combo, and that was when my board flipped upside down and I landed on top of it after going over the falls at Rosarito, thought I broke a rib. After routing out the hole, I lay glass in it when I set the box so its all sealed. All I had to do was drop in another box (the last one is still on the bottom of the ocean somewhere) If you know where you want to position your fins, future is a great system, but combined with an adustable system you have the best of both worlds.
