Tom Morey's answer to surfboard crisis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great news for you: Poly Urethane Foam Fiberglass (PUFF) surfboards bite the dust!
"The sudden closure of Clark Foam shocked the surfing world. However, the out of the box mind of Tom Morey, inventor of the boogieboard, says, "Bitchin'. With half a million new surfboards NOT being built this year, plus the normal breakage of existing PUFF surfboards and the fear of current owners that theirs also might break; probably one third as many guys will be in the water.
"Now, instead of patching all the little cracks and dings in your PUFF board, you can sell that brittle beast on E-bay! And for good money! CLARK foam PUFF surfboards, have suddenly become an antique collector's piece."
"But, most of all, the good news for a few of you is that you will now step up from the planned obsolesces of PUFF technology into the world of friendly, high performance, long lasting 'REVOLASTIC' surfboards. And, of course, this is where my 51 years of surfboard building comes in......................................
What is REVOLASTIC technology?
"Simply stated it is a entirely different way of combining: a new uncrushable plastic foam core, springy plastic skins, and a unique high tech composite stiffening system, with advanced hydrodynamic proven designs, all which Tom Morey has been developing and testing for the past 30 years.
Porpoise like performance
"The result is a surfboard with skins that feel and work the water like those of a porpoise. Tough yet with a harmonious feel and the kind of flex that gives porpoises the increased speed and maneuverability they're famous for. Revolastic materials and shapes mean faster paddling and more waves.
Friendly
"Friendly REVOLASTIC construction also allows the board to conform to your body. No more bruised ribs, hips, and knees you used to get just from paddling a PUFF board.
Safety creates confidence
"Although you may not be conscious of the influence of safety on your surfing, unconsciously you pull off far more risky maneuvers when the board you're leashed to isn't going to maim you.
"Add to this the end of pressure dents and dings"
SUMMARY
The time is over when board makers could get by with building PUFF surfboards that although slick looking perform poorly and are dangerous.
Soon hardboards which subject city, county and state agencies to unnecessary liability will be banned at your beach.
REVOLASTIC technology presents a new opportunity for both surfboard buyers and builders to take full advantage of the projected demise of the PUFF hard board.
Tom Morey now manufactures the first and truly friendly high performance surfboards; the SWIZZLE (pictures) and the MALIBU (pictures). Both utilize the new common sense REVOLASTIC technology. More models are on the drawing boards.
Tom says, "The REVOLASTIC technology is world class big. So we're licensing the manufacturing process, as well as several futuristic designs.

Yea, Tom is curently in Oceanside at my friend Jimmys shop.
He is now making boards using boogieboard foam and surfboard stringers turned on there sides. Its all glued together, and then put in a cad machine and ruff shaped into a board. He then puts the board into a make shift machine that puts rocker into it, and then my friend Jimmy puts the skin onto the board they route out an area for the fin box and there you have it. Its a great process to watch. Once again, Tom is ahead of the curve.

Tom's soft touch kept me in the water long after my first hard board (Plastic Fantastic) was broke and faded. I look forward to seeing what these new bords can do. Will the limited demand for K boards make it hard to get a shape? What about personal color.

The recurring use of the word "plastic" makes me cringe...
But, I think it's pretty obvious by now that Morey is a freakin' genius, and has been years ahead of his time in several ventures.
We've been on polyurethane, fibreglass cloth and resin since the Bob Simmons era---around 50 years, if I'm correct.
Surely, there are stronger and lighter mediums with which to work. And I'm not talking Balsa, although balsa makes a bitchin' board.
I'm sure the purists will probably shriek, but it may be about time to look at styrofoams, epoxies and other stuff that will carry us into the next millenium. Hell, maybe Grubby Clark secretly realized this, and is already creating the next "Surfboard of the Future".
I'm keeping an eye out, maybe I can peg this thing on the stock market and RETIRE!!!

The Malbu looks alright
but the Swivel ... I dont know if its the way they shot the picture of it but it looks really wiered ...it looks like it bulges at the nose ( talking about rails ) then on both sides dips in then at the tail it bulges out again
It sounds great an all but they need to make a fish then these things will sky rocket

If you are taking that much damage just paddling maybe you should think about another sport.Friendly
