'100%' environmentally friendly blanks

Post by tomway »

Just spotted this in an ad for a new blank manufacturer. I'm always highly suspicious of claims to do with environmental friendliness but this one looks interesting nonetheless. Anyone been in contact with this stuff?

Their (incomplete site) is www.lapextreme.com
Foam Core is the only 100% Environmentally Friendly Foam
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 May, 2006 : - - Lap Extreme has been testing surfboards out of an polyfoam foam for the last 10 years, and we are now making blanks out of a polyfoam foam blend formulation. Our polyfoam foam blend is by far the best foam to use for the surf industry…, but sima (after many unreturned calls) does not even recognize us as a foam blank supplier...
Our foam has no VOC'S; it is recyclable; it surfs better and has more flex and rebound ; it will also out last a polyurethane board by 5 times; it will not deck dent, and it wont kill you like polyurethane's TDI or MDI, or EPS foam which is blown with pentane or butane which is also bad for the environment. Our foam is the only 100% environmentally friendly foam there is.
Your boards will last longer, surf better, and be far better for the environment than any other surfboard money can buy...
