Wide point forward of center or widepoint back of center...plus and minus?

Effect on style, take offs, fin position etc. Opinions?

prior to my present boards,My oldies were wide point center, fins right on the tail.Fast!Couldn't make them turn though,Had to drag an arm,and that created a lot of joint problems, especially shoulders.
So....Ater a chat with hart, and explaining that I'd like a board where I could surf more off the tail as I normally did; Here's what he suggested:Wide point 1'' back of center,a wider tail with a bit more beef,Push the fins up to 16-1/2 center at 8-1/4.Worked like a dream, and it turned on a dime.Problem solved.Style improved...
Present boards are all standard wide point center, fins at 17''Surf more centered.Style improved even more...

cheers

17" is farther up than surfboard fins but not as far up as Drift and Parkes kneeboards?
