JDC,

Here's an example of objective truth how I interpret it "that mountain exists whether or not I think it does." Objective truth is just that...objective. Of course, language gets in the way when describing these things so try to consider just the concept rather than the words.

I would consider objective truth the starting point of most discussions of this nature. I give you the last word on this boring topic.

Anyway, I think I leaned forward today in the dry reef barrel that I got. Escaped with a scratched arm, bruised ass and an unscathed board. No pictures to verify so leaning forward it is.

DY, wonderful to read you also enjoyed the surfing world musings of Derek Hynd as a kid, but i wonder if the richer vein behind his writings was plumbed by many a surfer grown older and dry towards the creative spirit and sharp debate.

Given hart's current and recent past signatures, he may be able to apply some refreshment to a world weary soul.......literature as liberty can do this, as no motor sport race can......................

viva the upright mind that realizes leaning foward on cutting edge equipment produces the speed needed to go vertical  ....cos theres much more to kneeboarding than tube riding :!:

the mountain and the trees upon it exist whether we think they do or not.
the squirrel that lives on the tree on that mountain lives his whole fricken life never once questioning whether or not it exists. the squirrel does'nt have time to question such matters...he's too busy gathering nuts and living.
kinda makes that squirrel much smarter than us :?:

But didn't E.A. Blair lean, if at all, somewhat backward and rather to the left?

sorry mcknee, have not worked how two quote sources in one post :?

Blair was perhaps old school, not cutting edge and he only ever rode lefts...however being born on the subcontinent would have provided him with quite a different edge

You guys are spoiling all the fun!!!!! I thought this was a thread to renew the old "Mason/Dixon" debate. You know the one, down low, tight center of gravity, condescenced mass speedball vs. wing flappin' gyrating, butt wigglin' stick lodged, looks funny approach. C'mon back on track!!!! All in good fun  BRING IT!!!

OK....I will try to keep everyone happy! :D

An upright style will mean you surf further forward on the board, which makes for a more lateral approach.....a kneeling back position gives you more options [as it's hard to lean back when you are upright] & you can lean forward to engage the forward rail....& put more power into the whole rail.

& JDC....The space between two thoughts is where you are vacant for possession!

very supersticious of you crox!

if you apply some undrstanding of the mind you realize the mind is possessed by thoughts...not possession by a lack of them

...thats why people give the advice to take a deep breath and calm down when others are agitated

...why an archer learns to hold their breath before releasing the arrow

......why meditators of all religions learn to focus free of distracting thoughts

...concentration is thought free awarness....the devil is in distraction!

try entering a tube without focus...upright or lowdown
