Now THERE'S a "blast from the past". I almost expected to find the obligatory shot of Danny Qwack surfing the Wedge in his polka-dot shorts.

Wham-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Water Slaughter" absolutely ruined me.

I stole the copy from Blockbuster and watched it till the tape finally broke.

Novo's aerial barrel roll from two camera angles was absolute booooshit!

I kept thinking "These guys are wearing no fins... riding Tri's... getting sooo deep... AND THEN RIPPING THE WAVE SHREDS!... What am I doing wrong?!"

What was that, 1988?

Albert and MJ, thanks for those links
MB, Geez we're a well-connected bunch.

Interesting to compare the length and width of the boards being ridden with those prevalent today.

One thing that hasn't changed: commitment.

Or you could always ask Tim Bonython himself , he created the movie and can be found on the memberlist on the KSUSA home page

The maker of Water Slaughter is one of us? That would explain why there's 100 times more kneeboard footage than any other "mainstream" surf movie, (.002 nanoseconds average). Thanks for the info guys.

Cheers, Robert

link one posted by Albert features a 2 second cameo of me

this was on high rotation in the clubs during the late 90's and forever I was being asked was i the kneelo getting the lip in the back of the head while Nov and simon were killing it.

I was riding a very early Flashpoint,my first and best that some friends bought as a 21st present because they were sick of me borrowing there boards and destroying them doing silly things in close outs out the front of keg geddes parents place.
Scored a second at Mattara Newcastle, second at Central Coast Xmas classic and a 4th at the Aussie titles behind Simon, Parkes and Nov - riding this board.
