Swim Fins again

Post by PAINTERMAN »

As I have been going through this web site I can see this topic has been well covered, but one question remains unanswered.....I've seen duck feet pictures with the ends cut off.....What's the purpose???

Painterman;

I have posted pictures of my Son's cut down Duckfeet. Not only are they cut down but they have had some of the ribs removed or thinned down. This was done because he does not yet have the horse power (age 12, 100 lbs) to handle XL Duckfeet. I have other Duckfeet that have had the sides cut to reduce drag in the waves and others that have had the tops completely smoothed to give better contact and feel on the deck of the board.

I use duckfeet also. What I do with mine is I remove the center rib. It gives them a little flex. I feel that it gives me a little extra boost when first taking off. But you have to watch out because some of the duckfeet are made from softer rubber. I took one pair of my duckfeet and removed all the ribs, top and bottom. Used them the next time out and I lost just about all thrust. Mistake on my part. I keep them as a memory what not to do.

paint

Check out CP's photos the way to do it. For small surf the cut downs work. In larger surf when you need the extra thrust to cover the moving water. :)
